October 2020 FOCUS Update

(Happy Fall Y'all!)

From Bay: Hey everyone! Last night (October 14th), I had an incredible time of ministry at an FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Fields of Faith event in Cortez, CO. The event was limited to 175 people (obviously, because of COVID), and they were right at the max. At the end, I gave an invitation, leading people in prayer of salvation, and then challenged anyone ready to be a warrior for Jesus, to stand in front of their peers if they were now certain of their salvation and had fully surrendered their lives to God. 28 teens and adults stood unashamedly, with all the others cheering them on! Thank you to all of you who support Focus, and pray for our ministry—Covid has definitely not stopped King Jesus from moving in hearts and lives!! (See the pictures below.)

"Guest House" Ministry...

Years ago, when we were missionaries in Kenya, from time to time we'd need to take advantage of the guest housing that was available to us as missionaries with Africa Inland Mission. Mayfield Guest House provided us a "get away" with minimal expense, clean bedrooms and shared bathrooms, warm meals, and unique fellowship (i.e. Peg happened to be staying at Mayfield as Elizabeth Elliot was passing through Nairobi, and enjoyed a full evening of hearing her share her stories in the sitting room). We were grateful for the respite, and even more grateful for those who felt "called" to this much needed ministry that gave us time to refresh and renew... We never thought we'd share in a similar ministry.

HOWEVER...The Lord has opened the door for us to provide refreshment in very like fashion. Before Gramma Dot passed away, she made it clear that she wanted her comfy little home to be used to bless missionary couples, pastoral couples, supporters of FOCUS, and others in ministry. That was something she and Grampa had always loved to do. So, with COVID letting up a wee bit, the past three weeks we have been blessed to open her home to refresh those who are called to refresh others... If they can get here, we provide the rest of their needs. And what a joy it has been to share our glorious fall with so many... (see a few pictures below).
From top left to bottom right: Missionaries from Kenya (Lilli was a student at RVA when we served there); Supporters from Arizona (and a former college teammate of Bay's); Retired District Superintendent of Nazarene Churches - "Coach" and his wife (most recently from Rocky Mountain District); and our newest and youngest board member (no, not the baby).
 Helping the Marginalized

As we all know, the Covid Shutdown across our planet has affected millions and all in different ways. Many in third world countries are struggling to even put food on their tables (they received no government stimulus). Because of our supporters, FOCUS Ministries has a "James Commission Fund" (remember where James writes: What good is it if someone says he has faith, but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed or lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving them the things they need for the body, what good is that?")

So, with these discretionary funds, we've been able to send finances to Africa (via credible friends who live there) where villagers are able to receive basic staples. With even just $300, we've been able to feed over 90 families for a week!!! (see pictures below)

PLEASE NOTE: This is YOU giving... and we're grateful to our board who put this as an itemized line in our budget.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! For partnering with us in FOCUS!

With love,
Bay and Peg
