Dear Circle Economy community,
A circular economy can not be achieved by individual actors alone. To be successful, we need to connect with peers and solution providers, collaborate to overcome common barriers and have access to tangible circularity tools, frameworks and metrics.
At Circle Economy, we are working hard to facilitate collaboration across countries, sectors and industries. Are you joining us on the ride? In this November issue of our Monthly, we invite you to test our beta-community environment, learn about metrics that can guide your circular transition, join us at events and read about our current work in partnerships with organisations around the world—from circular jobs in Scotland to circular wood buildings in the Netherlands.
Don't forget: We are also giving away 100 free tickets for the outdoor apparel event Sustain the Momentum! First come, first served.

Community launch
Collaboration is key to realise the circular transition. That is why we have set out to create a circular economy community—a community that enables circular economy frontrunners and enthusiasts to connect, discuss, collaborate and find tailored, industry-specific knowledge and tools. Please take a sneak peek at our beta-community environment and let us know what you think. What features would you like to see here? What do you need to kickstart your circular journey?

Circular economy provides opportunity for Scotland to pursue a just and green labour market recovery
Our latest report, launched with Zero Waste Scotland, reveals that while 8.1% of jobs in Scotland already contribute to the circular economy, further investments can help the country address existing social inequalities by redistributing job opportunities, creating sustainable jobs and broadening access to essential goods and services. As Scotland's decision-makers plan the country's economic recovery from the covid-19 pandemic, the report identifies a wide-ranging mix of new circular roles and skills needed to help Scotland Build Back Better by forging a truly national circular economy.

CoP Tall Wood Buildings
As the world's largest consumer of materials, the building sector offers immense opportunities for circularity, but also faces challenges. Building with wood offers a potential solution to decrease the sector's environmental footprint. Instead of producing CO2 during 'production', wood captures and stores. Building with wood, if done right, consumes less energy and water and can potentially be 100% renewable. But building with wood is uncharted territory and the perceived risks for all stakeholders are high. Circle Economy's finance team has conducted research into the implications, barriers and opportunities for building with wood in the Netherlands. Findings are expected to launch at the end of December 2020.

Coalition Circular Accounting (CCA) dishes strategies to tackle food waste
Resources are often considered waste far too early. While different value chains could still uncover and utilise the remaining hidden value of "waste", the linear economy prevents businesses to effectively use these (perceived) end of life resources by creating financial, legal and accounting barriers. The Coalition Circular Accounting —a group of experts and scientists in the field of finance, accounting and law led by Circle Economy—currently analyse a business case to understand these issues. Their report, which is expected to launch early December 2020, presents unexpected solutions to being circular in a linear world.
