Castle Dracula 1977-2002
By Chris Pohle
As a kid growing up in the late 70's early 80's and spending most of my summers in Grassy Sounds the Wildwood boardwalk was my happy place. I loved it all. The food, the rides, the shops (remember the leather shop at 21st and the boardwalk? I was sporting a cowboy hat one summer) arcades, everything!
Castle Dracula was one of my weekly summer stops. I usually had enough money for either the castle walk through or the dungeon boat ride. Sometimes both.
Check out a video walk through of the castle in the featured Video Section.

But before you do either, how many scenes can you remember from the castle? My three favorites were the first scene as you entered the castle and stared at the picture until the lights went out and boom, Dracula appeared on the fireplace altar, the electric chair, and the guillotine. The guillotine, in my first couple visits seemed very real to me. I could never figure out how they did that trick and being just a kid it scared me. As I grew older the castle was a perfect place to take a date and win a stuffed bat with Dracula's head at the end in the games below. Sadly the castle was lost to a fire in February 2002 but their are several youtube videos and a DVD you can watch that preserves the memories.
