Fri 16 October 2020:
Your regular update from Reading Borough Council on our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how you can help
A message from Reading Borough Council leader Jason Brock

Infection rates in Reading continue to rise fast and today I want to share with you a message from David Munday, who is Reading's dedicated Public Health Consultant, helping ensure we have the best possible local response to the COVID pandemic.

In this video, David outlines the latest COVID data from Reading, and explains how to stay safe, including in and around schools.

We'll be recording more messages in the coming weeks and we'd like to be able to tackle the issues that matter most to you, so if you have questions about how we're tackling COVID in Reading, how to stay safe and protect others, then please send them to communications@reading.gov.uk

You may have seen the Prime Minister's announcement earlier this week about the new tier system in the UK.  At the moment Reading is in Tier 1 (medium), which means we must all:

  • Wash hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water, or use sanitiser gel
  • Keep a two metre distance from people you don't live with and who aren't in your support 'bubble'
  • Wear a face covering when asked to, such as in shops and on public transport
  • Only meet in groups of six or fewer - this is now a legal requirement. Remember meeting outside is safer than meeting inside
  • Isolate and get tested if you have symptoms - a fever; a new continuous cough or a loss of taste or smell

Sometimes it’s easy to forget the rules when you're with people you know, but whether you're at the school gates, in a shop or on the bus, please do the right thing for Reading, follow these simple rules and help keep everyone safe.

If you want to know more then please watch David's video and send in your questions for the next one.
