PASTORS CORNER

In the book, Adventist Home the following key evangelistic truth is penned, “The greatest evidence of the power of Christianity that can be presented to the world is a well-ordered, well-disciplined family. This will recommend the truth as nothing else can, for it is a living witness of its practical power upon the heart” (p.32). Today, as a church community we will begin an elder-led 17 message series on the importance of a God-fearing Christian home. The Heart and Home Series will focus on hearts and homes under construction. In Psalm 127:1, the psalmist reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain . . .” It has been reported that a godly home is: foundational for spiritual believers, essential for a thriving community, and paramount for a prosperous nation. My prayer is that our membership will see value in supporting this series of online meetings held Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 7:15pm. I would also ask that each member prayerfully consider sharing the series link found on our website and newsletter with anyone and everyone who could use a little encouragement in strengthening their families. The series will be available for viewing on YouTube and Facebook live.

Next, I would like to share some sad news regarding a wonderful Christian family that epitomizes the quote regarding a well-ordered, well-disciplined Christian family. Pastor Phillip, Emily, Enoch, and Chloe joined the College Park Church (CPC) family just a little over two years ago. This family has been a tremendous blessing to the people and ministries of CPC. Two weeks ago, I received word from the Ontario Conference that Pastor Lee was being transferred to the Belleville and Madoc Church district in East Central Ontario. The news of this new assignment was devastating to me personally because Pastor Phillip and the Lee family have been a blessing to me and my family. We have become a team over the past few years and I have thoroughly been blessed by our partnership in ministry. Upon sharing this information with the CPC Board and Elders, the decision was made not to share this news with the greater church family until the CPC Board could meet with the Ontario Conference Administrators. The CPC Board wanted to voice their concerns with the voted action by the Ontario Conference Board of Directors. The Administration of the Conference met with the CPC Board, Elders and Adventist Community Services (ACS) Board this past Wednesday evening. It was unanimously shared by all present that we were happy and content with the ministry of Pastor Phillip and that we wanted him to remain at CPC. Our Conference leaders listened and responded by recognizing the faithful and fruitful ministry that Pastor Phillip has provided to CPC and the ACS. The Conference Administration stated that Pastor Phillip was a proven pastor and ready for his own ministerial district. Additionally, it was shared that Pastor Phillip was the perfect fit for our two sister churches that were in need of a Pastor due to recent pastoral changes within our conference. I am disappointed by the news, but I also concur that Pastor Phillip is a gifted pastor and I know that God will continue to bless his ministry Pastor Lee's farewell message will be on November 28. I find solace in the fact that Pastor Phillip will still be able to live in our community and that Emily, Enoch, and Chloe will not be strangers to us. During this time of upheaval, I find peace in these words, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, and have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
