This Week- See Betsy On You Tube!!

Seldom Seen Moments From My Musical Adventures!
Hi Friends!

This week, I'm treating myself to some personal time, and treating YOU to some favorite songs or performances. On Thursday, I'll post a short video collage of three different songs or events from the past 10 years or so. Including:
 • Music from my visit to a Maximum Security Men's prison in Kenya- and the powerful song they wrote about their experience of the "justice system". You've told me how much you've appreciated my videos of singing with women in Kenya, in India and Nepal in 2015-16- I know you'll love this one!
Same Boat Now. One of you requested a song about inclusion, and valuing people's different gifts and abilities. I immediately thought of my song from (can you believe)1985.
We may have come here in different ships
But we're in the same boat now.
Annie Patterson and Peter Blood (editors of Rise Up Singing and more) recently created a video for the song. Enjoy!
Candles In The Window  In concert, with Eve Decker and Lisa Ziegler (Rebecca Riots), from 2009. One of my favorite songs from the prolific Bush era (hard times yield many songs!).

Here's how it works: To keep that weekly Thursday rhythm going, the video will go live Thursday morning, Oct. 22 . The video will be available from then on, to enjoy at your leisure, and share with friends. Feel free to post on your social media.
No need to RSVP--keepin' it real simple this week.

Resources and Quotes From October 15 Twilight and Lullabies

Two Poems

In my comments about election action, I quoted a beloved gospel song "I Ain't No Ways Tired", and then stumbled on a very different version on YouTube that I love.  I think you will too.

Here's two videos from previous evenings:

•No Better Time To Sing, October 1, a night of crowd-sourced requests: Will The Circle Be Unbroken (new words by Cathy Winter, Marcia Taylor and I), In My Two Hands Inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh), Happy and Good (written for the the contra war protests during the Nicaraguan revolution in '80s), and Carry it home. PLUS Madge Strong leading us a the rousing "Apocalyps-o"!!

Twilight and Lullabies, Oct. 15. Songs include Lay It Down, And When I Rise, Fall Down As The Rain (Joe Crookston) When I'm Gone (Phil Ochs)
, Prayer, If You Love Me (Malvina Reynolds).

"In the dark times
Will there also be singing?"
"Yes, there will also be singing.
About the dark times."

      - Bertolt Brecht

"Life is a shipwreck- but we must keep singing in the lifeboats"
Voltaire
