The funding environment is super strong around the globe. While Silicon Valley still leads the pack, Asia is rapidly closing the gap.

According to CB Insights' latest report, global VC funding increased 40% in Q3 vs Q2. Asia is seeing the largest gains with a 74% jump compared to 29% in North America and Europe.

Gartner reports data infrastructure spending hit a record $68 billion in 2019. That represents 24% of all infrastructure software and it’s growing!  Over 60% of the Fortune 1000 now employ a Chief Data Officer. Data infrastructure works not only in Silicon Valley but crosses over to traditional industries.

At Race Capital, data infrastructure is a key investment theme.  If you are a founder working on an early-stage startup (or about to start one) in this space, let's chat. =)

Take a look at the data infrastructure architecture diagram put together by a16z.
