It has been fantastic to see so many visitors back in the region for the school holidays and beyond. At the centre we welcomed the highest number of visitors in one day since we started recording this information - more than 440 visitors entered our doors on one day! September has seen us with an increase in visitation of 39% compared to the same period last year.
It is of course important to ensure that we keep Bowen and Collinsville front of mind heading into the coming months. Bowen Tourism and Business are supporting this through targeted social media marketing, experience development and strong collaboration with key stakeholders.
Are you passionate about the region and want to make a difference to the community? - why not consider nominating for a position on the Bowen Tourism and Business Committee or put your name down to volunteer at our Information Centre or Booth. You can find more information on both in this newsletter.

EURI GOLD FARM
Mango Growers Lionel & Jan Williams purchased the original property in 1976. Tomatoes were the main crop grown until 2015. The first R2E2 mango trees were planted in 1985 as well as other varieties. In 2002 the rights to grow Honey Gold from "Piñata Farms" was obtained. While these two varieties are their main commercial crop, 12 different mango varieties are grown on the property.
Cattle have always been a part of their lives and the farm currently has 10 bulls and approximately a 450 head herd.

Lowering North Queensland Insurance - Industry and Community Disaster Resilience Project
The Whitsunday Climate Change Innovation Hub is partnering with James Cook University to deliver a research project focused on identifying key measures required to better prepare the Whitsunday community and businesses in the lead up to a severe weather event, and we need your help! If you took actions which you believe reduces the impact of Cyclone Debbie on your home or business, or will prepare for a severe weather event different next time, we would like you to share your learnings. Information will be collected via a phone survey and will be used to improve the advice that is provided to our community prior to future events. Collected data will be anonymously provided to the insurance sector to help guide product development and look at reducing the risk rating applied to the region, hopefully leading to lower premiums!
