North Austin Reservoir and
Pump Station Improvements

Austin Water’s North Austin Reservoir has been separated from the potable water distribution system and the reservoir has been drained.  The City’s contractor, MGC Construction, started striping topsoil on October 12 and will continue hauling away top soil through October 23.

Demolition equipment is currently being delivered and demolition of the concrete reservoir will begin on October 26 and should continue through approximately November 25.  Removal of demolition materials will begin on November 2 and will continue through approximately November 25.

Motorists should expect periodic, random daily right lane closures of North Lamar Boulevard southbound between Old Koenig and Koenig Lane during this demolition process.  Please exercise caution while driving through this area.

About the Project:
The North Austin Reservoir, located near North Lamar Blvd and Koenig Lane, was built in 1913. The reservoir stores potable water to maintain sufficient volume to provide to customers in this area. The reservoir has exceeded its useful life and it is time to build a new modern reservoir and pump station to improve reliability of the water distribution system. Project Funding:
This project is partially funded with Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) funding through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). DWSRF funding is administered through the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB – DWSRF Project No. 62854)
