"Church at Home"...

Dear all,

Hopefully by now you have all realised that we have GIVEN UP trying to live-stream a weekly Sunday "Sofa Service" as the setup was a bit temperamental and unreliable!! But we ARE still streaming a pre-recorded "service" on YouTube every Sunday morning at 10.30am (as we did this morning). As a family, we will also be live on Zoom (in our CBC "Virtual Church Hall") every Sunday morning before "church" for a virtual cup of tea from 10.15am-10.30am. Please do use this as a chance to get used to Zoom, and to say hi to us and one-another. The advantage of Zoom is that it's a LOT more straightforward for us to make happen, and WE get to see YOU as well as vice versa. Dave's week off...

This coming week I have a week of annual leave and, as lots of you know, we have all headed over to the mainland to spend a week at my parents' house in Kent. My parents will be on the Island so that we don't break the "rule of six". If any of you meet them out and about, please do say hello to them!!

As I will be away for a week, there will be no "bookclub" times on Zoom this Monday or Tuesday. So for those who haven't yet got on board with "Bookclub", please find out more at www.thebigchurchread.co.uk but remember IT'S NOT REALLY ABOUT THE BOOK - these regular times on Zoom are weekly opportunities for fellowship and prayer with some discussion-starters inspired by the chapter(s) we've read that week. But if you're not reading the book (or if you forgot that week), THAT'S OK. If you'd like to catch up, we will have got to page 100 by the following week (the week following Sun 25th Oct).You can get a copy of the book from this website for £9.99.

Next Sunday...

Next Sunday is one of my scheduled Sundays off. I will be travelling back from Kent that day - but I have pre-set YouTube to stream a short time of worship and prayer at 10.30am as usual. There will be no pre-service tea/coffee on Zoom next week. The service includes a song of worship "Amazing Grace", and a short reflection on Jesus' incredible invitation to his disciples, "come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest"....it will also feature a 20-minute Bible Message by Gavin Calver, CEO of the Evangelical Alliance (pictured). This is, I believe, a very timely and inspiring word - and, in response, I will be closing the service by asking YOU to help out with an upcoming outreach opportunity that I'm trying to create in lieu of our usual Halloween outreach. So be ready to email me (dave.minister@gmail.com) next Sunday afternoon with your response!!
