Dissertation Training Resources

Starting a dissertation project can be a daunting but exciting experience. It is likely to be the culmination of all of your previous study and represents a chance to dig deeper and emerge as an expert in an area that you are interested in and passionate about. However, it can also pose a set of new challenges and require new skills including project planning, research design, data analysis and communication of your ideas and findings. The 301 Dissertation Training Resources can help you with all of these stages of your projects. The training package is organised around key stages of your dissertation and can be accessed at any time and at your own pace.

You can access the online Dissertation Training Resources here.

We are also offering a programme of live training sessions covering the research, writing and maths and stats skills you may need for your project.

You can access the Dissertation Training Programme here.

If you would like to talk through any aspect of your dissertation project with a specialist tutor, you can book a study skills or maths and statistics 1:1 tutorial for a 30-minute digital appointment.

Volunteering Opportunity

Check out this fantastic volunteering opportunity with Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care!

Inclusive Community Care Volunteer 2020/21

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

We work with older people in the community, working closely with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield City Council. We are Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care.

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

Volunteers on our culturally sensitive befriending scheme will help to reduce older people’s feelings of loneliness and isolation through regular telephone calls and visits to their home. These regular conversations help to build a meaningful interaction in a comfortable environment. Please note: due to current restrictions, this role is currently remote and befriending is done over the telephone. In the future when restrictions lift, you may be able to meet up with the older person you are matched with, if you wish. Where possible, we aim to match volunteers and older people according to their needs (e.g. someone who lives locally, speaks the same language, from the same or different cultural background).

Exercise, Nature, Introspection

'We, at the Wellbeing Service, believe that self-care is fundamental to wellbeing and getting out into nature can be a great form of self-care...'

In this blog, the Student Wellbeing Service explains some of the many benefits of being out in nature, and why you might want to consider taking your wellbeing session outdoors.
