We are proud to announce that coming this November 5th the Zonta Club of Lockport is celebrating our 100th Anniversary! Our club was chartered on November 5, 1920 and was the eleventh club to be chartered in Zonta International.

Due to the current pandemic and to keep all of our members and sponsors safe, we will be offering our Fall Fundraiser to celebrate our 100th Anniversary virtually. Instead of an in-person event, we have created a multi- media event entitled “100 Years of Service” with a celebration utilizing the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal, our website www.zontacluboflockport.com and Facebook page

Our sponsors and supporters are instrumental for our club to accomplish the mission of “Empowering Women Worldwide through Service and Advocacy”. Specifically, these funds will be used for local scholarships and charitable donations.
The Zonta Cheektowaga Lancaster Foundation, Inc. is hosting its first online auction due to Covid-19. The club usually holds an annual Yellow Rose Brunch to fund their scholarship and grant programs which help empower women by expanding their access to education, health care, economic opportunities and safe living conditions.  This annual event was not feasible with the Coronavirus.  Help our local Zonta Club continue to support our WNY community. Join us for this exciting online sale of gift cards and baskets hosted by Debi Randall.

The Zonta Club of the Corry Area is planning to hold its 30th annual car/cash raffle, but the format for this year’s drawing will be different than in years past. With so many events being held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Zonta club has decided to hold the annual drawing online.

Ticket holders and other members of the public will be able to view the drawing live on Facebook. A couple of local dignitaries will be invited to witness the drawing.

There are some other changes, as well.
  • Tickets are now being sold for the car/cash raffle, which will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, at a venue to be determined.
  • The cost of the tickets this year is $50.
  • The grand prize will be $5,000.
The ticket price and drawing are reduced because, by not hosting the annual dinner, which includes food, drink tickets, a Chinese auction and 50-50 raffles, the Zonta club will not have expenses associated with those activities.
  • There will still be 25 tickets drawn prior to the grand prize drawing, and those ticket holders will be given back the cost of their ticket. Those tickets will be put back in the barrel so they are included in the grand prize drawing.
  • The Zonta club sells 225 tickets each year. Annual ticket holders who have not yet been contacted by a Zonta member should expect to be contacted in the near future.
As in years past, proceeds from the car/cash drawing will be given back to Corry-area community nonprofit organizations and scholarships.

TAKING CARE OF OUR SISTERS
In September, 2020 the Zonta Club of Toronto collected and delivered almost $500 in feminine hygiene products to Sistering, A Woman’s Place in the heart of Toronto. Sistering is a low-barrier multi-service agency that supports women and trans people from across Toronto who experience first-hand the impact of marginalization and poverty. They may be homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or street involved - ranging in age from 16 to 80 plus years old. Sistering is a 24/7 drop in facility providing three hot meals, plus soup and sandwiches overnight. They have showers and laundry facilities. Their staff provides crisis intervention, harm reduction support, clothing and personal care items. From April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 sistering had 140, 521 participant visits to their shelter. They serviced 156,480 meals and much more.
