Ready to Take on the World Meet Our Outstanding Graduates
On October 10, the Precious English Medium School celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2020. The school held the ceremony in the Dining Hall with an estimated 700 attendees over flowing the open-air building. All 23 graduates took the National Exam just days before the ceremony. They are all expected to excel and be awarded the Primary School Leaving Certificates for acceptance to secondary school.
The graduating student body represents the beautiful ethnic and cultural diversity of Tanzanians. They are members of the Meru, Maasai, Chagga, Nyakyusa, Kamba, and Ngoni tribes. While most students are from Nshupu and surrounding villages, some originate from remote regions, including Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Dar es Salaam.
In a survey of the class of 2020, the students selected science, technology, mathematics, and geography as their favorite subjects. When asked about their dream careers, the top three careers were medical doctor, airplane pilot, engineer or technologist. Among the cited reasons for their dreams: ‘to find a cure for HIV’, ‘find treatments for incurable diseases so I can help society’, ‘discover something never discovered before through science and technology’, and ‘transport people to other countries to see the world’.
