Reflections Chairs and Presidents!
I hope to see you at one of our upcoming Roundtables. Please see information to the right under Reflections Dates.
Action: Email me with your Reflections contact, email and PTA. The program really is easy and Northshore Council PTA will help your PTA!
Just Getting Started?
- It is okay! You still have time!
- Promote Reflections anyway! See the Leader's Guide!
- The students and families who want to participate will!
- Your Reflections program can be big or small - one art piece submitted = SUCCESS!
- Reflections does not have to be classroom wide
- You are making a difference in a student’s life and that is what PTA is about!
- Did you know? High School students can put Reflections on their college applications!
Information on Student Entry Form
The top of the student entry form does need to be completed. All PTA's in Northshore are part of Northshore Council and are part of Region 6. Your National PTA ID and your State PTA ID are two different numbers.
National PTA ID: click here to find your PTA
State PTA ID: 6.10.xx (xx is your number - ask your president or myself)
Region: 6
Dates: you can put October 2020 for all the dates. The goal of these dates is to ensure your PTA is in good standing.
Question of the Week
Question: Can judging be done by parents and/or teachers?
Answer: Ideally, neither but we know it can be difficult to find volunteers. Try to get a judge that has some expertise in the medium being judged. Judging should be "blind". Did you know the Student forms are created so you can fold them in half and only see the artists statement?
Click here to read more on judging Reflections.
Be Compliant!
There are rules for each category within Reflections. If you turn in a Reflections piece to Council PTSA and it is not compliant, we can not send it up to State PTA for further judging. It does not matter how amazing it is.
Note: This is important, even when we are doing online submissions to Council and State! If any piece advances to National PTA, it will need to be sent physically.
The rules for each category are found in the student packets, but here are the highlights.
GENERAL COMPLIANCE
- No names or labels on the front. If the artist put their name on the front, just leave it. It's fine. Please DO NOT add any labels.
- Visual arts and photography must be on a rigid backing - see below
- Student signatures can be typed on to the entry forms

NOT ACCEPTED: Poster board, card stock, scrap-booking paper, construction paper, wood framed canvas, and glass are not acceptable backing materials.
