Dear Friends,
We're excited to announce the official re-opening of African Hope Learning Centre today, Monday, 19th October, 2020.
Now we are getting back into full swing again, along with the rest of the world. Our Grade 8 students started their studies over a month ago as they will have to write their final exams early next year. The KG up to Grade 7 students started today, at the same time as government schools. This year we have tried to keep the numbers of students down, only registering former students from last year. In total, there are only 350 students this year (down from 450 last year). We haven't been able to accept any new students this term, even though many have come in the hopes of being able to register their children.
In a normal year we have two shifts of students coming through the school each day - KG to Grade 4 in the mornings and Grade 5 to Grade 8 in the afternoons. As we try to practice social distancing, this year we have divided the morning students into two shifts and the afternoon students into two shifts. It means less classes for students but we're trying to put safety first.
Instead of wondering, how on earth are we going to be able to do schooling during COVID-19, we are looking forward to seeing how God works in these coming days, weeks and months, as we seek God's wisdom, protection, grace and strength for every detail of this new academic year. This is His school and these are His children. We thank God for His provision and leading in everything we do here.
See pictures below, of students arriving this morning (from 7:15am to 12:15pm) and this afternoon (from 1:15 to 6:00 pm.) and some pictures of our freshly painted school.
