A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I read

Love Poem to Myself by Cia Mangat
[Love Poem to Myself by Cia Mangat]

A tale I heard

Poet Carol Ann Duffy on the role of a poem:

"Poetry is the music of being human. When people get married, or have a bereavement, or when a baby is born, they turn to poetry in those intense moments of being human. My own poetry is a way of celebrating and explaining the world to myself through language. You can never tell where a poem might come from, but one doesn't have to look for it. All poets, even if they are writing an elegy, are in a sense celebrating. A poem adds something to the world; it doesn't take anything away."

A tale I saw

A Sestina For My Friends by Joe Dunthorne

A tale I wrote

One day
I might grow a third arm
and shave off all my hair
and turn my ribs into chocolate
and iron out my skin
and melt my tongue
and fold myself inside out
and morph into an oak tree
for a family of three
to build a treehouse
with a rope swing
and do all I can.
