Dear Ekone friends and families,

Here's another last-minute invitation to the ranch!

Plans are shifty in these times, and we've had a cancellation for next week's teen camp.

Know a pair of "bubbled" teens who'd benefit from a few days at Ekone?

All the info is below - email Caitlin, summercamp@ekone.org, for an application!

We hope you're staying cozy, dry, hopeful, and mobilized.  ♥
Teen Workparties

We know that our teens are getting some real lemons these days.  At just the time of life when you want independence, peer connections, and non-parental mentorship...Covid is tough on our teens, and we really want to help!

From our experiences with teen volunteers this summer, we learned that physical distancing only really works for teens when they come to the ranch with a buddy.  There needs to be ONE person that they can hang out with in proximity.  The rest we can do from a distance, or masked for some projects.

So here's what we're offering:
  • Teens age 15+, and must come with another teen that they will be "bubbled" with.
  • Teens will be folded in to life on the ranch--they'll join our staff and volunteer crew in the projects of the day, with the camaraderie, mentorship, and learning of Ekone life.  It'll be less structured than camp, and more structured than family retreats.
  • Teens will stay in separated sections of the Bunkhouse (with closed doors between each section).
  • Meals will happen outdoors in good weather, or be taken to the Bunkhouse if it's stormy.
  • Cost is on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale and we'll gladly provide scholarship support when needed.  As a point of reference, $400/person covers the cost of our staff time and hard expenses; $600/person supports the ranch and helps make it possible for others to come.
  • Our application form will ask why teens are in need of this experience, and we'll try hard to do the most good for the most people.
Dates available (Sunday arrival, Thursday departure):
  • October 25-29
We'll announce more dates if and when they become available, and especially if you tell us you're interested!

To receive the application for a teen workparty, please email Caitlin at summercamp@ekone.org.
