Black Type Digest
Your free weekly newsletter with extended pedigrees
of European stakes winners

Welcome to the Black Type Digest. Soft ground-loving geldings were to the fore on British Champions Day at Ascot, with Pivotal's Addeybb gaining his first British Group One success in the Champion Stakes and Dubawi's The Revenant winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes - both had been second in their respective races last year. Glen Shiel, also by Pivotal, won the Sprint and Wonderful Tonight gave David Menuisier his first British G1 in the Fillies and Mares.

Mehmas set a new record of 38 individual first crop winners on Monday, bettering the mark of 37 set by Iffraaj ten years ago. The Tally-Ho Stud sire has four stakes winners, headed by Supremacy, to his name.

Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale produced unexpectedly strong results, and there is a full analysis, with breakdown of average by quartile showing where the market was strongest.
