ARNHEM LAND BARRAMUNDI LODGE FINALLY OPENS... AND THE FISH HAVE WELCOMED LUCKY ANGLERS WITH OPEN MOUTHS

Report From Senior Guide Dylan Brier-Mills:
"What a year it’s been for us all. We are very grateful to have a season this year after an interesting year. It’s been a great start to the season with familiar faces and lots of fish. The first few days of the season have been great. In fact, it’s been the most barra I've seen in the river on Lowrance Downscan and Sidescan sounder in 5 years!
Graham, Karen, Simon and Gail managed to catch 235 Barra in 3 days! The other boats also had great success with 50+ days common. This Build-up, the fish are in all the right areas and wanting to play, from trolled deep lures to shallow plastics. It won’t be long before a few big fish hit the decks!
But it’s not all about the insane Barra fishing! The bluewater is consistent as ever with coral trout and golden snapper ready for the menu. After experiencing such amazing fishing, our guests are able to enjoy a cold beer on the sunset deck and a few stories from the day… a tough year like this one has been soon gets forgotten.

We have prime spots still available during our Build-up peak season  in November.

Come and experience what is widely acclaimed as Australia's finest
barramundi fishing.

Here are some happy snaps of Lodge guests who were lucky enough to be the first to visit since the Covid lock-downs and disruptions interrupted proceedings at the Lodge in early March 2020.
A triple barra catch! There's a frenzy of barramundi action available right now in our Arnhem Land waters.
Ben Schnitzerling with a beauty from the many he caught. You won't get that smile off his face in a hurry.
The action on the bluewater was also full-on. Gayle Hall was excited to land this hard-pulling brassy trevally.
The blue bastard is so named for its colour and fastidious eating habits, and is a great catch on a lure. A difficult fish to fool by any standard, it is a prized catch, particulary for saltwater fly fishers. This one was landed by Karen Whyte.
Cobia are abundant in our Lodge waters, and will often travel alongside mantaray, making them easy to target visually. Hard fighting and very tasty, this cobia was caught by Andrew Chapman whilst jigging soft plastics out on the blue water.
Karen Whyte gets into the action again, this time with a fair chunk of saltwater barra.

BOOK  FOR THE 2021 RUNOFF

Arnhem Land Barra Lodge 2021 Runoff season will commence guided fishing operations from mid-February 2021.

A great Wet Season is predicted with northern Australia likely to be wetter than average in coming months.

The latest climate outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology indicates a high chance of above-average rainfall across most of Australia in the November 2020–January 2021 period, with similar chances of above-average rainfall across northern Australia in the December 2020–February 2021 period. This is due to  a strong La Niña  presence in the tropical Pacific Ocean. A La Niña weather pattern is typically associated with above-average rainfall across most of northern Australia during spring and summer when above-average rainfall is most likely to occur across much of the Top End of the Northern Territory.

The Runoff is the post-wet season, peak fishing period at the Barra Lodge with cricket-score numbers of barra commonly encountered, not to mention a large variety of other lure-munching estuarine species.
The bluewater fishing is also spectacular, and at times world-class. You can expect explosive popper sessions on big queenies, wild workouts on various trevally species, smoking drags from runaway Spanish mackerel, lock-down battles with big black jewfish or a hot bite on thumping golden snapper, coral trout, bluebone and other tasty reef fish.

The Arnhem Land Barra Lodge looks forward to offering you the
trip of a lifetime.
