Last year we asked Fridley residents and business owners to attend a series of workshops regarding improvements to Highway 47 and Highway 65. The input and feedback we received from those workshops has been very valuable as we continue to make and advocate for improvements to Highways 47 and 65.
As a result of the corridor workshops and a series of safety studies, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is evaluating the future vision of Highway 47 (University Ave.) and Highway 65 (Central Ave.) for everyone who uses these roads. They are asking communities from Minneapolis to Blaine what these streets should look like in the future, who they should serve, and how they should operate in order to plan for comprehensive changes. They have taken Fridley’s original study from our workshops and are building upon that, for not just for our community, but for those around us. You can also talk directly with MnDOT staff at one of three of virtual public meetings. During these virtual meetings you can learn more, ask questions and share ideas.
