Hello friends,
Last Thursday, the Leadership Team met to discuss, among other things, the questions about continued in-person worship, Flame Kids and Youth Group. We decided, after another survey through the CDC, ND Department of Health and latest research into the virus to continue to meet both in-person and online. With the precautions we continue to keep in place, we are able to stay masked and socially distant throughout worship. Thank you for your willingness to follow those precautions while in the building and for continuing to connect while staying at home.
Here’s a reminder of our precautions.
- We ask that you wear a mask while in the building. There are masks provided at the door if you don’t have one.
- Please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. There is hand sanitizer located throughout the building. Social distancing
- We have shortened our worship service time and are including no communal singing in the bulding. If you’d like to sing, sing loudly at home.
- With the recent request to limit people to 25% of seating capacity. We are limiting worship attendance to 35 people per service. As so many in our midst have chosen to worship from home, we have followed this limit all fall.
Thank you all for your devotion to God and to your neighbors.
In Christ’s Peace this day and always,
Pastor Sara

Flame of Faith UMC
Charge Conference 2020
Tuesday, Nov. 10th at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s charge conference will be in the sanctuary, both live-streamed and in-person with Rev. Kris Mutzenberger, our District Superintendent in attendance. We will gather to approve the budget and leadership as well as talk through ideas for what we can do better in the future.
|
|
If you are interested in being a part of next year’s leadership, I invite you to pray about these opportunities.
- Trustee Team: The primary job of the Trustees is to oversee and care for all local church property, buildings, and equipment to further the mission of the church.
- Staff Parish Relations Team: The primary job of the SPRC is to evaluate and encourage the Pastor and staff, setting priorities and boundaries.
- Treasurer: The primary job of the treasurer is to organize and report on the finances of the congregation as well as paying bills and payroll.
- Flame Kids Teacher: The primary job of Flame Kids teachers is to disciple young persons within our Flame kids programming, either Sundays or Wednesdays, or online.
These are just some areas of need within the leadership here at Flame of Faith coming into the New Year. If you are looking for other areas to focus your gifts, please contact Pastor Sara.

Mission Team Fundraiser
With all the changes in our world, the Mission Team has decided to try a different type of fundraiser this year. You can purchase a package of notecards, with pictures from the Dominican Republic to send notes of encouragement to your friends and family. The notecards come with a fountain pen. You can also purchase a hand-made journal and fountain pen, to use as a gift or to start your own journal.
The journals are $25 and the notecards are $10. All proceeds will go to future mission trips.
These will be available at the church during regular hours,or you can email Pastor Sara ( pastorsara@flameoffaithumc.org) or Carol Knodle ( merrilkno@aol.com) to buy one.

WHAT IS SHOEBOX CHRISTMAS?
Shoebox Christmas is a program that provides Christmas gifts to children in need in the Dakotas and Minnesota. This past Christmas over 6,500 gifts were donated and distributed in the tri-state area. In South Dakota, the Crow Creek and Pine Ridge reservations and the Enemy Swim School near Sisseton. In North Dakota, the Spirit Lake Nation and the Turtle Mountain reservations. In Minnesota, the Red lake Reservation. Several Churches in all three states also received gifts.

WHAT’S IN A SHOEBOX?
Love. Shoebox Christmas gifts are built from love for children that might not otherwise get a Christmas gift. On the reservation, up to 70 percent of the children would not get a Christmas gift if not for the Shoebox Christmas Gift program and the generosity of the people that donate to this wonderful program. To start, wrap the bottom and top of the box separately (this will allow us to insert the story of the birth of Jesus). If you have children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews ask them if they would like to help you shop for those less fortunate children. While shopping remember all items must fit in a shoebox. We are looking for the following age groups, infant, toddler, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13 and up. Please put a winter hat, mittens or gloves but no other clothing in the box. Other items can include toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, hairbrushes, ribbons and bows for girls, crayons, toy matchbox cars for boys, handheld games, cards, etc. Please only add new items to the box and remember to have the items age appropriate for the age group you are buying for. Place a rubber band around the box and put the gender of the child and the age group on the top of the box. You have just built a box of love. You can do as many boxes as you wish.
These shoeboxes should be back at the church by the middle of November as they will go to Spirit Lake Nation by Devils Lake. If you have any questions or concerns or need someone to pick up your box please call Carol Jacobsen at (701) 361-0071.
Thank you for supporting the Flame of Faith Mission Committee.

October is Fire Prevention Month
|
|
Officer Travis Olson from the West Fargo Fire Department stopped by the church and had a nice chat with Janson. Travis dropped off a stack of these magnets. We cannot predict when emergencies will happen. They are especially important for people who live alone. Next time you're at the church, please take one, fill it out with a black sharpie, and slap it on the fridge.
