Dear <<First Name>>,

As we slowly move towards the winter season and the nights draw in, hearty Reds become the bottle of choice from the cellar. We start the campaign off with a legendary Italian wine-making institution with 4 wines from the awesome 2015 vintage and some great prices for the quality.

Marchesi Antinori is an Italian powerhouse with a wine-making heritage that spans centuries and covers the length and breadth of Italy. From Puglia in the south with wines that taste of sunshine, to the Toscana 1st growth wines from Tignanello and Solaia in the North.

We have Prunotto Barolo from Piedmont where Galloni (Vinous.com) give 94 pts and prolcaims "Everything is impeccably balanced in the 2015".
Moving South to we two wines from Tuscany, Pian delle Vigne and La Braccesca where again Galloni (vinous.com) awards 94 pts and concludes "Silky, plush and explosive, the 2015 has a ton to offer.".
Finishing in the boot of Italy with Puglia, we have a sophisticated offering from the Castel del Monte (Tormaresca) estate - the plush Bocca di Lupo.

Marchesi Antinori on the vintage

"2015 was hailed as a perfect vintage in many countries, including Italy. Thanks to a very even growing season, the fruit was in excellent condition at harvest time, and minimal selection was required."

The 2015 vintage was superb across the leading regions in Europe. In Tuscany, it saw exceptionally dry and hot weather during the summer, resulting in concentrated ripe berries. The wines have been met with real excitement, particularly those heralding from Chianti, reminiscent of the 2010 vintage.

However yields are down in some cases up to 30% as berries were smaller, particularly on the Sangiovese vines.

With the 2016 and 2017 vintages appearing to be below expectations this is an excellent opportunity to secure some quality wines from an excellent vintage, at the best price on the market.

These outstanding wines represent the best of both worlds; perfect for cellaring but also already expressive and are delicious to drink in the near future.
We are delighted to offer an incredible selection of top Antinori wines all from the 2015 vintage, while stocks last.

James Suckling

"Some producers are comparing 2015 to the excellent 2008 vintage or 2001, but I think 2007 is a more apt parallel, as the wines from 2015 are fleshy and fruity with an underlying freshness. Either way, the 2015 has turned out to be an excellent vintage, producing fruity, structured, and balanced wines."
The Antinori family needs very little introduction and is regarded as one of the top wine making families in Italy, producing wine since 1385 under 26 generations, with no less than 15 Italian estates and a further 7 globally. That constant quest for innovation and quality results in a Italian "1st growth" in Tignanello
Tenuta Pian delle Vigne
Brunello di Montalcino (DOCG)

100% Sangiovese

The Antinori family acquired the estate in 1995, the same year the first Brunello Pian delle Vigne was harvested.
The Pian Delle Vigne estate is located 6 kilometers (3.5 miles) southwest of Montalcino. Its name comes from the eponymous area where a characteristic nineteenth century railway station is located. The property consists of 460 total acres (184 hectares), 160 of which (65 hectares) are planted to vines with generally a south-western exposure at an altitude of 430 feet (130 meters) above sea level. The estate’s namesake wine, Pian delle Vigne, represents Marchesi Antinori’s deeply personal interpretation of a prestigious and traditional wine such as Brunello di Montalcino.
"The 2015 vintage of Pian delle Vigne shows an intense ruby red color to the eye. The nose is complex, one of impact, characterized by notes of ripe red fruit and of violets accompanied by aromas of dried flowers, cocoa, cherries under spirits and spices such as oregano e marjoram. The palate is elegant, rich, and complex, with supple and succulent tannins. The freshness of certain sensations, first perceived on the nose, are felt once again during the tasting of the wine."

Eric Guido (Vinous.com) - 94 pts

"The nose shows an alluring display of hauntingly dark florals giving way to crushed black cherry, plums, and tobacco, with hints of spiced citrus and undergrowth adding further depths. On the palate, silky textures flood the senses with ripe red and black fruits, carried by vibrant acids, as sweet spices and minerals slowly saturate, and fine tannin begins to mount toward the finale. The finish is long and structured, resonating on zesty wild berry fruits, spice, and minerals; yet its tannic heft keeps it all in check. The 2015 Pian delle Vigne is one of the few wines of the vintage that requires some time in the cellar, and with this balance of primary fruits, acids, and structure, it should emerge as something to behold."
La Braccesca
Santa Pia Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva (DOCG)

100% Sangiovese

Just a mile away from the city of Montepulciano, near the border between Tuscany and neighboring Umbria,
La Braccesca, an Antinori property since 1990, straddles two distinct yet neighbouring zones: the classic and prestigious area of Vino Nobile, and Cortona, which has made a name for itself for Syrah.

Santa Pia is produced from a 15-hectare (37 acres) vineyard in an area called Santa Pia, located on the ridges just below the town of Montepulciano. This particular area has sandy loamy soils rich in rocky deposits known as “scheletro” that allow the Antinori’s to create an elegant yet traditional expression of the Sangiovese grape that reflects the characteristics of this historic winemaking area. The first vintage to be produced was 2001.
"The 2015 Santa Pia shows an intense ruby red color. The nose is dominated by fragrant notes of ripe cherries and red berry fruit, which well balance the hints of vanilla and spices which are accompanied by a highly pleasurable crispness. The palate is savory, ample and enveloping, and endowed with silky and vibrant tannins and a long and persistent finish and aftertaste."

Antonio Galloni - 94 pts

"The 2015 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Vigneto Santa Pia is another fabulous wine from Antinori's La Braccesca property. Black cherry, plum, lavender and spice bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. Silky, plush and explosive, the 2015 has a ton to offer. This is an impressive showing."
Prunotto
Barolo Bussia (DOCG)

100% Nebbiolo

The Antinori family, charmed by such rich natural beauty, unique vineyards and soils, decided to invest time and energy in this terroir confident that their efforts would make Prunotto what it is today, one of the most important winemaking estates in the Piedmont region.
The Prunotto estate is located in Alba, the most important city in the Langhe area halfway between Barbaresco and Barolo on the right side of the Tanaro river, on gentle plains surrounded by vineyards in the Langhe and Roero territories. Alba’s surrounding landscapes are captivating. The natural beauty of the gently rolling hills alternate with small sloping valleys covered by rows of meticulously cultivated vineyards.
"The Barolo Bussia, ruby red in color with garnet highlights, is luminous and vivid in color. The nose is complex and is characterized by floral notes and notes of red fruit.  The palate is intense with a texture of sweet and silky tannins, while the finish and aftertaste are long and balanced."

Antonio Galloni - 94 pts

"The 2015 Barolo Bussia is one of the most complete and satisfying wines I have tasted from Prunotto in a very long time. A whole range of expressive, balsamic-infused notes typical of Bussia makes a strong opening statement. Rich and layered on the palate, the Bussia develops nicely in the glass. Air brings out the ripeness of the vintage, with plenty of macerated cherry, spice and floral character. Everything is impeccably balanced in the 2015."
Tenuta Tormaresca (Castel del Monte)
Bocca di Lupo (DOC)

100% Aglianico

Bocca di Lupo occupies 250 acres of chalky soil at an elevation of 800 feet above sea level in Murgia, near the volcano Vulture. Blessed with abundant sunshine and warm temperatures, the vineyard’s Chardonnay, Aglianico, Fiano, Moscato, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes flourish, producing wines with fresh, vibrant, and elegant flavors.
Masseria Maìme estate’s 625 acres extend over half a mile along the Adriatic coast, providing an ideal growing environment for Negroamaro, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Fiano. Together, these estates enable Tormaresca to cultivate both exceptional native and international varietals in the heart of Puglia.
COLOR: Deep ruby red.
AROMA: An intense and complex nose with successive notes of red fruit and dried fruit, spice, herbs, and balsamic sensations.
FLAVOR: An elegant wine with firm tannins, a very important structure, balance and a round texture, and a lengthy and persistent finish and aftertaste.

Wine Enthusiast - 92 pts

"Dense aromas of dark berries meld with subtle accents of cinnamon, violet and anise on the nose of this wine that's sourced from the winery's Castel del Monte estate. There's a plushness to the palate where thick-skinned dark berries are holding court alongside baking spice and earthy undertones, with firm tannins and bright acidity lending support to the whole. Drink through 2027."
