+ Joe Biden's election comes at a crucial turning point in the history of US capitalism, commentators argue. Biden, who has previously called for an 'end to shareholder capitalism' will begin his presidency as American business leaders signal a move to stakeholder capitalism, and - in the wake of Black Lives Matter and coronavirus - commit to advancing racial equality and justice.
+ UK businesses are also taking steps to become more purposeful, according to a new survey. However, research has found their attempts to change are often inhibited by existing, unsupportive investment and legislative frameworks.
+ UK charities and non-profits have been debating their role and purpose, too. The National Trust was this week accused, by some of its five million members, of conducting a 'woke takeover'. This followed the charity's decision to explore the sometimes uncomfortable links between historic houses, wealth and slavery.
