Hello, <<First Name>>

Hope you're enjoying bonfire night, have your cups of hot chocolate by your sides and are peeping out of the window, admiring the fireworks.

By the time this email reaches you we should be on some moorland overlooking Glasgow, taking in the pyrotechnics.

Talking of fireworks, what about yesterday's US election when, for a brief time, it looked like Donald J had pulled off one of the biggest shocks in electoral history by beating Sleepy Joe?

Thankfully, 'twas not to be and we can now sleep easier in our beds (in a couple of months) once Trump doesn't have his finger on the nuclear button.

All this has had spectacular effects on the stock market, particularly in the UK, with the FTSE up around six per cent on this time last week.

One could be forgiven for thinking we'd licked the pandemic and today wasn't the start of a month-long English lockdown with the number of UK covid-related daily deaths rocketing to 492 yesterday.

Anyway, before I drop the links on you, I just wanted to say chin up.

Now's the time to read those dust-gathering books, go to Lidl and buy the entire stock of hygge-inducing candles and channel your inner March/April and get out on that family walk (this time with a head torch).

It could be worse, you could be home-schooling the kids again.

Enjoy.
