Election 2020

LCA President Jean Walsh will be our new AC Transit Director

Many of us are on pins and needles as we await the national election results. But here in Longfellow, we have a clear victory to report.

And while we usually stay out of the political fray, we'll make an exception to congratulate our own Jean Walsh, LCA Board President, on her decisive victory to represent Ward 2 on the AC Transit Board of Directors!

Jean will be sworn in to her new post on Dec. 4 in advance of her first Board meeting as a Director on Dec. 9. We know she cannot wait to hear from you about your views on the future of East Bay bus service!

Save the Date

Holiday Lights Neighborhood Ride & Contest

If Halloween was any indication, we expect neighbors will be going all-out this year to add as much holiday cheer to their yards as possible this year. We could all certainly use it! To recognize your we'll be holding a holiday house decoration contest in December.

Then, instead of another Zoom meeting, we look forward to getting back together in person -- at a safe and comfortable distance with face coverings at all times -- to enjoy the holiday decorations throughout our neighborhood.

Mark your calendar and plan to decorate your bike (or your body!) for a cycling/scooter/skating tour of the neighborhood on Tuesday, December 15 at 7p (with a rain date of Sunday, December 20 at 6p).

If you don't feel comfortable joining the group tour, you'll also have the opportunity to check-out the entries on your own and then submit your vote for the best holiday house in Longfellow.

Stay tuned for details on how to enter your house in the contest, a map of entries, voting info, and details on the group tour.

New!

LCA has added a new "Resource" section to its website, LongfellowOakland.org. The new page is full of emergency and non-emergency numbers for quick reference when you need to contact the best resource for a variety of situations.

We plan to add additional resources as we go -- if you have any suggestions, please send them our way!
