November 9, 2020

Welcome to November, friends!

And what a month it's been already 😅

This week's B Keeper is light on content -- hopefully that means we've all slowed our pace over the past couple weeks. I hope you're feeling empowered to tackle this new work week at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Personally, I'm feeling a somewhat awkward combination of weary and rejuvenated. If you're feeling similarly, I'm right there with you.

One day at a time,
💖 Cassy

Debrief on the US election

If you haven't had a chance to do so yet, please take a moment to review the video from the division leads shared last week. Hopefully you've had a chance over the weekend to care for yourself however you see fit -- whether dancing in the streets (like we did here in Philly!), spending time with loved ones, or taking a much-needed nap.

Please continue to take the space you need to process, rest, and stay engaged. Reach out to our in-house therapists for personal support or to P&C for team support.

Progress report on compensation & role clarity

As you know, we've been working on the second part of our town hall, focusing on compensation and role clarity. We're still working on the "official" video update on this topic, but we'd like to share an update and a note from Olivia on the process:

Dearest B Lab team,

We are well behind our original start date for the compensation update yet again. Some may believe it should be completed by now, others are trusting the process, others do not know what to think, and I am sure there are many other reactions. I see you and I'd like to offer an explanation.

We've been navigating this tough process amidst complex external circumstances: a difficult election season in the US, emotions about our health and the health of our loved ones and even our fellow humans, and uncertainty abound. This is a multi-stakeholder process and all of those stakeholders are human beings with their own emotional response during this time.

I know that our initial plan will not be perfect, and perfection is not the goal. But we do need to make sure alignment is reached and that training for managers is achieved. This is important. I want us all to be set up to succeed.

With the election behind us, I am doubling down on the efforts to get us to the finish line. I made this video to explain next steps. Thank you for listening and reading.

Best for Last 🎉 Back to Basics

Each newsletter will bring a bit of levity and joy to your Monday with this "Saving the Best for Last" section. We'll rotate the theme for the remainder of 2020 and include periodic polls to determine what type of content you enjoy most.

This month has been quite a year already. Anyone else feel like you could just use... a laugh? For this month's "Best for Last," we're bringing it back to basics aka sharing some top notch internet content recently. Enjoy :)

Tired of election content? Here's an assortment of distractions for you:

Share your feedback with us!

As a reminder, the B Keeper has 3 main objectives: 1) Minimize Slack overwhelm by creating a central hub for all "need to know" information, 2) Connect us to our mission and to each other, and 3) Provide some levity and joy in our workdays.

So far, do you feel the B Keeper is...
Delivering on none of these objectives?
Delivering on some of these objectives?
Delivering on most of these objectives?
Delivering on all of these objectives?
