News by and for the Rocky Mountain Conference,
United Church of Christ

Beloved Church,

We know how hard each church leader, each pastor, each chaplain or other ministry leader, and each church staff member is working through this pandemic. We see you. We see your continued hard work, your sustained commitment to being the church, online.

As a way to say thank you and give you some rest this holiday season, we are pleased to announce 3 new online worship resources for our RMC churches to use in November and December.

  • The Rocky Mountain Conference is releasing a complete worship service with communion in November. It is designed for use either the Sunday before or the Sunday after Thanksgiving (but you can use it any time you see fit). It will be available for download by November 16. Details will be emailed to churches and pastors.
  • The Council of Conference Ministers is releasing another combined service for use at your discretion (we will send the link via email when it is available).
  • And the National UCC office will be releasing a wonderful line up of Christmas offerings for you to share with your church! See the details here

May these offerings of hope and love from those in the UCC support you at the local church. If ever it was visible that your OCWM -- Our Church's Wider Mission -- dollars were at work, it should be now. Thank you for your continued support of the wider ministries of the United Church of Christ.

Blessings,
- Rev. Sue

Socksgiving Sunday is November 22, but your church may pick another day to collect donations if necessary. To participate:

  • Let your congregants know of the need for NEW socks for men, women, and children.
  • Supply an outdoor collection box and place the Collection Box Sign on it. Let your congregants know what days and times they can safely drop off donations.
  • Donate your collected socks to a local shelter or charity.

Clergy Connect Calls
Every 2nd & 4th Tuesday
There’s no denying that these are challenging times for clergy and lay leaders. The RMC is pleased to present Clergy Connect Calls; a casual conversation about what it means to be clergy in this time. This is a time to share our joys and concerns with one another in sacred community. Join us every 2nd & 4th Tuesday, at 11:00 am, now through January, for our Clergy Connect Call! Registration is required to join one or all of the meetings.

Visiting Scholar Rev. Eric Elnes, Phd  |  November 14
Plymouth Congregational UCC in Fort Collins will be hosting UCC minister and author Rev. Eric Elnes as our visiting scholar on Nov. 14 from 9-3, via Zoom. Elnes authored the Phoenix Affirmations
Asphalt Jesus, and Gifts of the Dark Wood.  He will be leading us through some of the darkness of our times to different perspectives. Since this is a virtual seminar, we are opening it up to churches in our conference and others who may benefit from the gifts of his wisdom and perspective. Learn More

30-minute Sanctuary Sessions
During Annual Celebration a series of 1/2 hour opportunities for folks to gather on Zoom for reflection and some much-needed silence was offered. It was so well received that the RMC has decided to continue it! La Foret is taking on the role of hosting these 30-minute Sanctuary Sessions. They will be offered at 6:00 pm, every 2nd and 4th Monday in October, November, and December, and will feature contemplatives from around the RMC. Learn More
