The club finished up the season with the Adidas U19 tournament on Labour weekend. It was a great event with 16 boys teams and 14 girls teams from all over the South Island and once again we welcomed Wellington United. The boys coached by Bren Ong and myself had a mixed tournament. We missed out on qualification to the Quarter Finals on goal difference finishing just one goal behind Mosgiel but coming away with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss. This was pretty good but obviously the boys felt disappointed but that is tournament football. The girls team was an exciting experiment for us as we joined forces with SAS to form the Eastern Invitational team. The team started slow but once the girls got to know each other lots of good football was played and it great to see a mix of girls from both teams helping each other and getting on really well. The team coached by Rebecca Wilson and Rebecca Lake finished with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses with Margi Dias winning the Golden Boot Award.

Congratulations to Ferrymead Bays boys and Waimak United girls on the victories, taking home their trophies for 2020.

New appointment

We are really pleased to have brought Joe Hall to the club. Joe will combine 2 roles. Firstly he will join Ekow as Co-Head Coach of the MPL team for the 2021 season and secondly will work alongside myself as a Technical Adviser to our Youth section as we try to build our Talent Centre and attract new players and coaches as well as retain our current personal. I have known Joe for 3 years and have always had a great relationship with him and I look forward to working with him to move the club forward.
