Welcome to Castle Hill SDA Church eBulletin
for 14 November 2020

We trust this email finds you and yours well.

This week we commemorated Remembrance Day.

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them.

May you be refreshed by the Sabbath Day.
To add news items and annoucements, please send notices to
Michelle Gibbons at bulletin@castlehillchurch.org.au by Wednesday evening.

If you have news, stories, celebrations, photos or would like to have a pastoral visit

Join the live Church Service this Sabbath, 14 November

We are glad to have Pr Pablo Lillo speaking to us this week.
His message is titled

"Your Love is Better Than Life"

Our teens will be leading us in worship.
Keep an eye out for the puppets as they challenge our children.

We trust you will be blessed by message in today's program.

Our church service runs from 10:45am to 12:00pm.
You're invited to join us - click on the button below.

To watch previous weeks' sermons, please click on the link above and choose the date you would like to watch or re-watch.

Enjoy again the music directed by John Duncan in the 31 October service.
It was the efforts and dedication of Brett Samuels, musicians, singers and production team which brought it all together. We are truly blessed to have so many talented and committed contributors to bring these special programs to us.

Worship Service Podcasts
Listen to the messages that have been presented this year via our online services.

COVID-19 pushed church online, but the silver lining is that you can join from anywhere. Here are the sermons in case you missed one or enjoy listening to church while driving!

Our (growing) library of online church sermons is now available to listen to as a podcast! Pop over to https://castlehillsda.transistor.fm/ to catch up on any episode, or subscribe using your favourite podcast app (search in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Podcast Addict, etc).

Some aspects of our church video programmes don't work so well without the visual element, and so this podcast is deliberately just the sermon (and welcome) from each week. The back-catalogue is already up, and each week a new episode will be published.

Here are some suggested uses for a sermon podcast:
  • catch up on a sermon after being interrupted while watching church with young kids!
  • listen while driving to a sermon you liked and/or missed!
  • "do church" while cycling or jogging to exercise your body and soul at the same time!
  • share with your hipster podcast-listening friends to spread the valuable messages more widely!
  • email an episode link to your non-tech-literate grandparents to give them wholesome entertainment while knitting!
  • play it really loudly to evangelise to your neighbours!

Next Sabbath, 21 November, is our

I'm Grateful

There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There is food on my table
And shoes on my feet
You gave me your love, Lord
and a fine family
Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on me.

Tithes and Offerings
You’re invited to give generously to the

World Mission Budget

Global Mission Pioneers sacrifice much to take Jesus to the unreached cities, towns, and villages around the world and to put His method of outreach into action.
The question is, what are you willing to sacrifice to help support them?
The Annual Sacrifice Offering, collected in some countries on November 14,
is a good time to make a special gift to support the work of Global Mission Pioneers.
Part of your Promise (regular and systematic offering) already supports the Global Mission Pioneers, but if in addition, you would like to help share Jesus with unreached people, write “Annual Sacrifice Offering” on your tithe envelope or visit global-mission.org/ giving and select “Global Mission’s Annual Sacrifice Offering.”

Dear Lord, help us to sacrifice for mission, as You sacrificed all in our behalf!

Please go to eGiving to give your tithes and offerings,
or come to the church on Monday afternoons.

Richard Hurrell is at the church every Monday from 2:00-4:00pm
to receive your tithes and offerings.

Prayer Requests

Prayer isn't passive. Prayer is powerful.
Let's pray together today.
Let’s pray for those in need.
Let's lift our praises and thanks for answered prayer!

Our church family has many needs, and we ask that you keep the following people and situations in your daily prayers for healing, help and support.

Please keep on supporting our production team as they prepare the online services every Monday.

Please keep on supporting and praying for our leadership team, our elderly, children, youth, families.

|| Imogen Rea ||
She’s been in a war zone
Since cancer
Ambushed her at birth.
She’s hurt.
You can’t see all of her wounds
But they’re there.
She’s cocooned and swaddled
In love and in blankets
But there’s no armour
A baby can wear;
Nothing that can protect her
Except for prayer
And the One who listens;
It’s Him who can make true
The hope in the hearts
Of both me and you.
Baby Imogen has been recovering well since brain surgery last week. There are some complications with her wound and she's still in some pain but getting stronger every day.
She started receiving high strength chemo on Wednesday. Please pray that it successfully destroys all brain cancer cells in her. We want this congenital Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4 cancer totally gone! This is our big prayer!
Thank you for praying for her and being part of her miracle.
 ♥️ Christie
|| Dr Alan Gibbons ||
Please continue to keep Alan in your prayers. He has had another hard week with Trigeminal Neuralgia pain, though his specialist has encouraged him that the new regime will improve. Please pray that new medication for pain management will be successful, and allow the elimination of heavy drugs that affect his overall well-being. Please pray for Alan's comfort and ability to cope with this new round of health challenges. He and June have a strong network of prayer warriors already praying - let's join them!

Let’s keep on loving each other and supporting those in need.

If you know anyone else who needs or would like prayer,
please send a message to Pr Pablo, Nick, Jess or Marvin.

Wahroonga SDA Church, hosted by Wahroonga Adventist Youth

ERROR: REBOOT REQUIRED. Please restart in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
Undoubtedly, this year has been crazy. With bushfires, a global pandemic, businesses shutting down, widespread riots, BLM, and lockdowns, 2020 has taken a toll on our collective spiritual, mental and physical health. Have we tried turning 2020 on and off again?
     It's time for a REBOOT!
While we can't promise to fix the world's problems (only Jesus can do that), we can promise a night full of spiritual revival. If you've been craving Jesus, in-person interaction and a sense of normalcy, UPPER ROOM: REBOOT is the place to be.
We'll be bringing back some classic Christian hits, testing your knowledge of old technology and parodying pop-culture. There will be inspiring testimonies, a killer message from Pastor Phil Yates and a free COVID-safe cafe afterwards!
Tell a friend, and bring a friend!

**PLEASE NOTE**
1. Sign-in will be required on arrival for COVID-tracing.
2. If you feel unwell or have been in contact with people unwell or with COVID, please DO NOT attend this event.

Men's Ministry

Good morning. Chris here.
Just a message of thanks to all the men who have contributed to the Bible study this year. It was a difficult one and despite all that was happening, we have managed to faithfully get into Gods Word and breathe that into our Heart.
I know it's difficult to set aside time each week and I would sincerely encourage you to slot into the Hour of Power as we are encouraged by God's word. We surely do learn from each other and there is no week that goes by that we are never attacked leading up to the 7:00pm start.
I value John Duncan and Vernon Lewis, Oliver, and other men too that I may have forgotten, who dig deep and challenge us too, that if that is how God leads then that is what we have to face.
As we sit at the table, let us be reminded of the Last Supper, the Cross at Calvary and the Baptism into the Life and Death of Christ.
We have a great purpose and we can live that freely in Christ.
To the wives that allow the men the time, a special blessing to them.
To the Ministry of God that affords me to come nervously and troubled to the throne each week, thank you for your Love and soothing hand when I don't know how that 7:00pm start may look like.
Lord, you consistently come through and we men need your guidance as we model Christian life to our sons and daughters in our homes.
To Pr Pablo for encouragement always, thank you.
God bless and I trust to see more at the weekly meeting with Christ at the head of the table.
~ Chris Engel, Castle Hill Men's Ministry.

Castle Hill Men's Ministry is an inclusive open group that is looking to always inspire,
lift up the name of Jesus, and better still, be in alignment with our church values

Life (REL)
We had a lovely catch up a few weeks ago at Heritage Park, Castle Hill and it was unanimous that we do something similar again before Christmas.
We have decided to go back to Heritage Park on Wednesday 25 November commencing at 12:00pm for a barbecue picnic (which we will supply). Very simple just vegetarian hot dogs. Nothing to bring except please bring your own drinks and chairs and again, all your stories to share! Facilities at Heritage Park are great including parking and toilets. Please let one of the Committee know if you are planning on attending so we can know how many to cater for.
Also a reminder of the Church Picnic on Sabbath December 5. This should be a fun day to catch up with our whole Church Family on the school oval commencing at 1:00pm. You only need to bring your chairs, food and drink.

Looking forward to seeing you all at both the above activities. It has been a loooong year and it is great we can gradually come out of our burrow and mix a little.

Ways to Serve
The Heart2Heart Pillow Project aims to encourage healing, offer support and provide comfort to breast cancer patients and other people who had surgery. The pillow is used to soothe both physical and emotional pain immediately after surgery, radiation or treatment.  It not only helps to provide protection and support to the wound but is also a source of comfort and a token of love and care. Sydney Adventist Women have set a goal of 500 heart pillows to be made and donated to this course.
Here are the instructions for how to get involved:

Drop off your completed pillows to

Fresh perspectives on practising our faith, Edited by Jarrod Stackelroth

How can the truths expressed Seventh-day Adventist Church’s fundamental beliefs make a practical difference in your life? It's so important to practise our faith, not just believe it! Knowing what you believe is helpful. Living what you believe is transformational!
A collection of 29 contemporary writers from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific share fresh and relevant, thoughtful and faithful, inspiring and—at times—challenging perspectives that will revive your faith and how you practise it. Each chapter, first published in Adventist Record, includes questions for group discussion or personal reflection.
Ideal for personal reading, youth and small groups, a Bible study or Sabbath school resource or even a baptismal gift.

“Any belief that has value must be lived out in our stories every day. This book challenges us to live God’s story as disciples of Jesus.”—Glenn Townend, President, South Pacific Division

Special offer!
For every 5 of these books you put in your cart, each 5th book will be free!
