OUR NEW NAME AND MORE!
At the end of August, we sent our name change application in to the government, and we have been waiting to hear back from them. They have recently responded to let us know that since we are incorporated under the Religious Societies Land Act, our official name will need to have a "local description" attached to it in order to distinguish us from others. In other words, we need to add our location to the name. Thus, we need to provide a resolution that our voting members are ok with adding "Edmonton" to the name.
If you are a voting member, I would like to hear from you. I simply need to know if you are good with our official name being: Refinery Church Edmonton. This would only show up in government related documents. In house, we would simply refer to ourselves as, Refinery Church. I have already had the opportunity to speak with many of you, but if I haven't spoke with you yet, would you please e-mail me at scott@chirstschurch.ca to let me know if you are good with this. I would appreciate hearing from you soon so that we can keep the application process moving forward.
I would also like to remind you that this weekend is when we set our clocks back one hour. If you are attending the live service, you probably won't want to get to the building an hour early. So enjoy that extra hour of sleep!
Speaking of our service, I will be starting a new teaching series on Sunday called, Count me IN or OUT. I'm going to be seeking to help answer the question: What are you going to do with Jesus? This would be a great series for you to invite a friend to join you for part one. Whether you are joining us live, or online this Sunday, I look forward to gathering with you!
