Harvest Progress
The Iowa Crop Progress Report that was released today shows that 87% of the corn has been harvested, as compared to the same time period last year when only 38% of the corn had been harvested in Iowa. Corn harvest is more than 3 weeks ahead of the same time last year. Soybean harvest is 97% complete.
Soil Test and Fertilizer Application Considerations
As harvest wraps up and folks have been working on fall field work, here are two considerations to think about related to soil fertility. First, use caution when interpreting fall soil-test results when following a drought as you may experience lower than expected results for P, K and pH. Second, maximize your fertilizer applications with a spinner spread with tips found in this video.
