The week is NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. The theme recognises that Australia’s First Nations people have lived on and cared for this continent for more than 65,000 years.
HTSA supports prioritising the voices and needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in research and health service delivery to improve the health and wellbeing of Australia’s First Peoples. HTSA works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to drive the National Indigenous Research(er) Capacity Building Network (IRNet), on behalf of the Australian Health Research Alliance. The Network creates opportunities to connect researchers, projects, training, evaluation and knowledge translation and identify clear and robust pathways to careers and stable employment in the health researcher workforce. We aim to embed this workforce and associated projects in mainstream and Aboriginal health services to improve health outcomes. To find out more click here.

Health Translation South Australia (HTSA) in partnership with PRAXIS Australia and Sophie Mepham GCP™ invites anyone involved in the design and conduct of Clinical Trials to attend a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Introductory Webinar.
This session covers the required minimum GCP elements, as articulated by TransCelerate, to provide evidence of compliance with GCP, to ensure your site and institution remain compliant with the minimum training requirements.
The training is available free to all Health Translation SA Partners across SA (see list of our Partners below).
Importantly in 2021 we will also be rolling out a SMGCP/PRAXIS ‘Train the Trainer' scheme to enable organisations to manage their future training needs. We will be seeking expressions of interest from those who have completed ICH-GCP E6 (R2) and who are interested in becoming accredited GCP Trainers.

> Primary/Acute Care Interface Data Project - Update
Health Translation SA is currently scoping a project that aims to better use the rich supply of healthcare data in South Australia to enhance and improve continuity of care and to ensure a smooth progression of care as people transition between our hospitals and the community. Our project team has been interviewing GPs, hospital clinicians, health service providers, researchers and data experts to understand the current system pain points in continuity of care across these transitions, and how data might be used to improve care.
A critical aspect of this work is understanding and incorporating the perspective of patients and carers as we identify the problems and prioritise the areas to target in the development and testing of a solution. In October we were privileged to hear the stories and experience of patients and carers in two focus groups.
It was clear in these group discussions that capturing and communicating information in a timely fashion at all stages of care, and effective co-ordination of care were key themes. Stand-out reflections from the participants were that there is a much needed role for digital solutions to enhance these pillars of care. However such solutions need to facilitate and support the ‘knowing and understanding’ of the patient as a whole person rather than become a substitute for that highly valued relationship.

The NHMRC would like to hear from people with experience or expertise in:
- translation of research into clinical practice
- commercialisation of health research
- transdisciplinary research, e.g. collaboration and/or engagement between researchers, consumers, patient groups, those involved in health service delivery and industry
- international research projects, including clinical trials
- health economics and biostatistics
- representing consumer and/or community organisations.
You do not need to have a research qualification to be a member of a Grant Assessment Committee.

The group currently meets monthly to:
- Provide leadership, advocacy and advice to Northern Adelaide Local Health Network
- Encourage communication, participation and the sharing of information and knowledge
- Gain new skills and experience
