My love of creative pursuits has been a healthy distraction ...
In these days with so many things to worry about, I have found a shelter in my studio. Working with my hands and using the creative side of the brain is a therapeutic escape. And one thing has led to another in strange and wonderful ways.
Needlepoint is another perfect Covid activity. I've been at it awhile, and my favorite thing to make has always been needlepoint belts. Smathers and Branson is fabulous, but nothing beats a belt that no one else has. I like to design my own canvases with landscapes of special places. Above is my younger son in his graduation present - a belt I designed and stitched of Episcopal High School.
Multiple designs for belts of boarding schools, colleges, Maine and Block Island got me thinking .. wouldn't a scene like this translate perfectly into an Hermes style bangle?
And we're off to the races! Debuting here - and with a special introductory price, the Lawn in Charlottesville - and as a fundraiser for my garden club, Old Town Alexandria. Many more special places to come - send your ideas of of what you'd like to see next!
