It's London Climate Action Week!

London Climate Action Week (LCAW) takes place 14th - 20th November. The annual event brings together a world leading array of climate professionals and communities to find solutions to climate change, focusing on the transition to a net-zero carbon world.

Camden Council declared a climate and ecological emergency in 2019 and launched the Camden Climate Action Plan earlier this year. The Climate Action Plan proposes an ambitious five-year programme of projects and activities designed to bring to life the vision of a net zero carbon Camden.

Join the CCCA at a number of free online events during LCAW:

Carbon Certification - Report your annual energy data by 31 Dec 2020

CCCA’s energy data reporting cycle is now open. By reporting your data, you will be contributing to this year’s CCCA annual report, where we collectively disclose members’ carbon emissions and reductions. This makes the alliance, and its members, accountable and more importantly, it provides members with the evidence to continue building their business case towards their environmental commitments. See examples of our past Annual Reports.

In 2019, 89% of Alliance members who reported their energy data, reduced their carbon emissions by an average of 20%. This has contributed towards a 45% borough-wide reduction in carbon emissions since 2008.

Organisations submitting their annual energy consumption data have the option to access our free Carbon Certification scheme.

The reporting deadline is Thursday 31st December 2020. All you need to do is complete our carbon reporting form online. Click here for more information.

Report energy data now.

Environment Bill 2020 Returns to Parliament

The government’s new legislation aimed at transforming our environment returned to Parliament last week after being paused due to the pandemic.

The Environment Bill, which is currently at the committee stage, is designed to protect environmental standards as the Brexit transition period ends and will focus on enhancing wildlife, tackling air pollution and transforming resource and waste management.

As part of the Bill, a new, independent Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) will be created and legally binding targets will be introduced for air quality, nature, water and resource and waste efficiency.

COVID 19 Support for Businesses

The government have announced that the emergency business loan scheme is being extended and it will allow firms to “top up” their borrowing as part of new rules aimed at keeping businesses afloat during England’s second lockdown.

UK firms will now have until the end of January 2021 to apply for emergency business loans, including bounce back loans, coronavirus business interruption loans (CBILS) and the CLBILS scheme for larger firms.

It was also announced that eligible businesses will be able to ‘top up’ existing Bounce Back Loans should they need additional finance. Click here for more information.
