Vendors selling their goods will be spaced out to accommodate social distancing, with hand washing stations throughout. Advanced online ordering for curbside pickup is still available for you to secure all of your favorite Empire Market goodies! Joplin Public Library's Children's Department staff have created a fun, outdoor offering for fall – a StoryWalk®! A StoryWalk® is an innovative way for families to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll along the path, you're directed to the next page in the story. The library’s StoryWalk® features the fun, Halloween-themed picture book The Ghosts Went Floating by Kim Norman and Jay Fleck. Free and open to the public. Small businesses are the heartbeat of our community. As we look to find the new "normal," it becomes even more important to support these businesses and what they bring to the community. While many events that traditionally brought people to Downtown Joplin have been canceled, the Downtown Joplin Alliance has put together a “non-event” to celebrate all things local. Participating businesses are offering deals and specials to Be Local passport holders. Passports and special Be Local t-shirts can be ordered online, picked up at select locations, and offers can be redeemed through November 15. Offers will be one-time use per passport holder and will be stamped upon being redeemed. Shop, eat, and play downtown as you feel comfortable to do so! Cost: $30 per passport/shirt. Right Brain and Left Hand

Following a surgery to implant a deep brain stimulation device, artist Lori Holt Marble set out to explore the connection between the brain and creativity through painting. Initially, she wanted to create at least 20 abstract paintings using her left hand, which had been impacted after the surgery. Now, creating stunning abstract pieces, like those featured in her exhibit Right Brain and Left Hand, has become a daily practice. Free and open to the public.
