Welcome to the final edition of our newsletter in 2020. There has been a bit of a break since the last one and that is partly because we have been waiting for confirmation of news about the future of TLT - more later. As we rapidly 'zoom' towards another Christmas, we are supporting many churches to continue delivering food, activities and a few treats over what will be a difficult time for many. We have made a short video to encourage more churches to get involved in school holiday provision. Please have a look at the 'Filling the Gap' page on our website if you would like to have a go but don't know where to start! Take care and thank you for your continuing support and prayers.

We know of 13 churches which delivered food and activities to children and families over the summer and half term holidays. TLT has been supporting them with access to safe operating guidance, signposting to funders and we were also delighted to be able to help 7 of them financially. The commitment, imagination and creativity of workers and volunteers has been breath-taking. We sent out a questionnaire at the end of the summer and the feedback included some great ideas for activities and food. We also held a zoom meeting attended by church providers and others interested in getting involved. It was lovely to hear more about what has been achieved and for the churches to share experiences and suggestions with each other. Please get in touch if you are looking for ideas and inspiration!

We have just printed the latest figures from our Covid Response Project which has supported 28 churches to deliver food to vulnerable people in their communities. The number of beneficiaries now exceeds 3,000 and we still haven't collected all the feedback in. Have a look at our report and please get in touch with us if you would like to support the churches in any way.

Future of Transforming Lives Together - from the TLT Board of Trustees

Unfortunately the Church Urban Fund has withdrawn funding from the network of Joint Ventures across the country, known as the Together Network, which has forced the Board of Trustees of our local Joint Venture ‘Transforming Lives Together (TLT)’, to re-evaluate the immediate future. Without guaranteed funding the Board has no choice other than to make Wendy Robertson our only Community Builder redundant with effect from the end of November.
In the last six months the extraordinary work that Wendy has been facilitating around the Diocese has enabled more than £21K in funding to be directed to parish food programmes that have been feeding struggling families, so that around 7000 meals have been provided by amazing volunteers.
The Board of Trustees is exploring funding opportunities to facilitate the future work of TLT and Ven Ian Bishop, Chair of TLT, would be delighted to talk to anyone who may be able to assist with funding.
Please pray for Wendy at a difficult time, her work has been beyond brilliant, and for wisdom for the Board as they seek to imagine a new future.
