                                  A Message From Dr. Helen

A few years ago, a friend with children older than my son said to me: when your kids are young, the days are long, but the years are short. That expression has really stayed with me and it seems to apply to our current times. For so many of us, there’s so much going on that each day feels extremely long, but the weeks and months are flying by. This month marks my 8-year anniversary in business! I am super grateful to have made it this long, especially given the obstacles that I’ve had to navigate over the past years. It’s been a fascinating journey full of ups and downs, and many extraordinary clients and collaborators. Here's to many more!

For the past months, most of my personal and professional interactions have been 2-dimensional. I’ve noticed that on the rare occasions when I’ve seen people in real life, I’ve felt way more awkward than usual. When I’ve compared notes, it seems that others are feeling it too.

My Curated Resources for Anti-Racism

Over the past few months, there’s been a lot more interest in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. To support the clients who I’ve been working with in this area, I’ve been curating a range of relevant resources on my website. The resources include podcasts, social media posts, documentaries, books, and articles as well as blogs, so you're sure to find something that piques your interest. I update this page regularly, so be sure to check back often for the most up-to-date resources.

Video: How to Build Your Resilience
For over seven years, my tagline has been “Building Resilient Careers and Organizations.” This means that for me, resilience isn’t a buzzword that I jumped on in 2020. Since we seem to need resilience more than ever, I’m sharing this 4-minute video that may help you make small changes that will help you improve your resilience.

Podcast: Managing Burnout
As a psychologist, I’ve been receiving links to research and other resources that predicts a lot of pressure on our collective mental health during 2020 and 2021. One area that’s getting a lot of attention is burnout since many people are living with circumstances that put them at higher risk for burning out. In the summer I found this podcast episode which is highly informative — I'd recommend having a listen.
