Funding Education with Gratitude and Generosity

On December 1st, please join us in celebrating the spirit of giving this #GivingTuesday. We know there are so many charities deserving of your support in this time of unprecedented suffering.  As you consider your year-end giving, we hope you’ll remember the impact the Tsoknyi Nuns have had on your life and consider making a donation to the Tsoknyi Humanitarian Foundation (THF) on #GivingTuesday.

On behalf of the Tsoknyi Humanitarian Foundation Board, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and the Tsoknyi Nuns, we wish you and yours many blessings this holiday season!

$100,000 Matching Grant for a New School Building!

Worldwide, Rinpoche’s supporters have raised a total of $2 Million towards the $2.2 Million construction budget to build a new school building at Tsoknyi Gechak School (TGS). We are so close to reaching our goal with only $200,000 left to go!

The current school building at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling was built in 2013 to accommodate 4 class groups and today we have 10 class groups! We are excited to be fundraising for this larger building with modern school facilities that will accommodate even more students. Once we have built the new school building, the current building will be converted into much needed residential space for the TGL community. The school dormitories are packed to capacity and we are eager to create space for new nuns!

Thanks to a $100,000 Matching Grant from our generous and dedicated Board President, Owsley Brown, your donation will be doubled!  This Matching Grant will be offered through Losar (February 12, 2021).  GIVE TODAY to multiply your donation and your impact!

Tsoknyi Gargon Nuns near Swayambhu to open a new school for young nuns as a branch of Tsoknyi Gechak School

We are pleased to share this exiting new development by our former school director, Fionnuala Shenpen:

As you know our Tsoknyi Gargon Nuns have a base Nunnery in Muktinath. The Nunnery was founded over 400 years ago by a wandering Drukpa Kagyu Yogi. More than 70 years ago the nunnery burnt down. The nuns struggled for a number of years to maintain their tradition without a nunnery. However it became increasingly evident that they needed to rebuild their nunnery. In 1991, hearing of a great Drukpa Kagyu lama who supported nuns, three senior nuns walked hundreds of miles over mountainous terrain to Kathmandu to request the spiritual and material help of Tsoknyi Rinpoche.
