Dear Praying Churches, Friends, and Family,

Hello from Belize! Though most of the country has started opening up, churches are still on strict regulations. In October, churches were finally allowed to gather again, but with no more than ten people at a time. While continuing our online Sunday morning services, we began meeting for Bible studies three nights a week. On Wednesday evening, the people who live on the church street join us for a study from Matthew chapter 5. On Saturday evening I hold a Bible study for the men and teen boys. And on Sunday evening Elizabeth holds a Bible study for the ladies. Initially, we felt the strict regulations would be a hinderance to the church ministry, but the individual Bible studies have proven to be very valuable. They have allowed us to address specific spiritual needs for each group. Please pray God gives us wisdom as we learn to affectively point them to the truths of God’s Word.

After beginning the online homeschooling seminars in August, God has continued to open several unique doors. Schools remain closed here, so parents are still adjusting to the transition of educating their children at home. We began a country-wide homeschool Facebook page as a means to support parents through this process. On that page, Elizabeth streams Thursday evening workshops on topics such as reading, arithmetic, lesson planning, routines, and motivational tips. This has allowed us to build  a core group of families who desire to learn more about homeschooling. One of those moms has begun meeting with Elizabeth on a regular basis to discuss the process of starting the first homeschool association in Belize next year. God’s hand and timing has been amazing to watch.

Unexpected generosity from people in the States has encouraged us and confirmed in our hearts that God is answering our specific prayers and desires for Christian education in Belize. A lady in Pensacola, Florida, took on the task of collecting hundreds of used homeschool books. A church provided the funds to purchase tools and materials necessary to start the homeschool association. Others provided for seminar packets and shipping for the books. Please pray for us as we organize all of the details. The family structure in Belize is weak and we believe God will use this ministry to play a crucial role in evangelizing, discipling, and strengthening Belizean families.

As God continues to reveal the long-term opportunities here in Belize, we find our roots growing deeper and deeper. We truly love this country where God has called us. God desires to accomplish so many things for His kingdom all over the world. He is simply waiting for individuals who are willing to say, “Here am I Lord, send me.”
