in a somewhat unconventional way to learn, connect and engage!

What’s an Unconference?
It’s is a participant-driven meeting. A conference that avoids the hierarchical aspects of a conventional conference, such as sponsored presentations and top-down organization.

The topics covered ranged from social enterprise definitions, how to write winning tenders, how to pitch 101, uncovering secret funding, to manufacturing farm and agricultural machinery… and so much more!

FEATURED MEMBER!

When many people think of a scientist, they imagine someone (often male) in a lab coat working with a microscope or test tubes. Our vision of science is far broader. We believe that science is everything that we live and breathe in the environment. Unfortunately we know that the environment is facing some really big challenges now and into the future. The environment needs science to help out. And we need a diversity in science disciplines beyond the labcoat, and a diversity in ideas from people of every race, colour, sex, and religion.

Our purpose at She Maps is to bring diversity into how we perceive science, and who does it.

We have a diverse core team, passionate about increasing diversity in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers.

We support educators to run engaging STEM engagement activities, using drones and geospatial technology. You will find us in schools running programs or see our courses and resources for teachers online.

MORE NEWS, RESOURCES & OPPORTUNITIES

Congratulations to Sefa!

Sefa has been selected as a lender as part of the Coronavirus Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Guarantee Scheme. The Scheme is being run by the Federal Government to support SMEs through the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Government has approved 44 lenders to participate in the Scheme, with Sefa currently the only lender to focus wholly on lending to purpose-driven organisations.

Under the Scheme, the Government will guarantee 50 per cent of new loans issued by eligible lenders to SMEs. Businesses and not-for-profits with annual turnovers up to $50 million are eligible to apply for loans of up to three years, with an initial six-month repayment holiday. The unsecured loans are for a maximum of $250,000 per borrower.

Hanna Ebeling, CEO of Sefa, said: “We are delighted to be selected to participate in the Federal Government’s Guarantee Scheme. Purpose driven organisations have been showing incredible resilience during the COVID-19 crisis and Sefa is perfectly placed to help them through these challenging times. We invite potential partners to contact us about contributing capital to the pool available to purpose-driven organisations, leveraging Sefa’s status as a participating lender in the Scheme.”

More information on the Scheme

To serve the greater goal of affecting change and achieving results we must measure what we do. This has been a key driver for businesses for decades. Social impact is no different, to understand whether we affect positive change in our drive to have social impact we must place the same methodology, applying metrics to what we are striving to achieve.

By applying measurements of impact we are able to define the impact we want to achieve, stay true to our impact goals, help to build integrity and trust and ultimately create measurable value. Simon Doble
