Thematic Action Groups
Following on from our introductory thematic sessions on mental health and prison release, we will be holding two follow up sessions on the afternoons of the 9th and 10th December. Communities Secretary, Robert Jenrick, has announced the allocation of £150 million government funding across England to provide new long-term homes for rough sleepers and other vulnerable people.

The Centre for Justice Innovation has published a report calling on the government to take opportunities including the upcoming unification of the management of offenders within the National Probation Service and the new Sentencing White Paper to create smarter community sentences.

The Prison Reform Trust CAPPTIVE project has published its second briefing on how prisons are responding to Covid-19. This time they raise the concern that extended periods in cells are likely to have a widespread and enduring impact on prisoners' mental and physical health.

Homeless Link updates
Homeless Link has called for the Government to implement 'Everybody In' for a second time to ensure people sleeping rough can stay safe during the new national lockdown. They have also responded to reported Government proposals to deport foreign nationals who are rough sleeping.

News from Mind
Mind has called for the Government to support people with mental health problems during the new national lockdown and make sure additional support is in place to protect those with serious mental health problems.

Collective Voice
Collective Voice has responded to the Office for National Statistics drug related deaths figures for 2019 calling on Government to use the second Black Review and the 2021 Addictions Strategy to create a vision of how drug and alcohol harms will be reduced and routes into recovery maximised.

Leadership Programme: lived experience in the criminal justice system
The Lived Experience Movement at the Centre for Knowledge Equity and Clore Social Leadership are offering a free online leadership programme for lived experience leaders with direct, first-hand experience of the criminal justice system.
