Remembrance Day Update

The Collingwood Legion is asking the public to "please stay home" this Remembrance Day.  There will be no parade to the Cenotaph or gathering at the Legion this year.  Rob Graham, president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 63, suggests that "all stay home and honour our Veterans by watching the national ceremony on television."

Members of the public are encouraged to show their support through purchasing a wreath or making a donation to the Legion. Wreaths must be purchased before November 11 and will be placed at the Cenotaph by a Legion member.  Anyone seeking more information may contact the Legion at 705-445-3780 or visit the Branch at 490 Ontario Street to talk with staff.

The Collingwood Museum will be closed on November 11, 2020.

The Collingwood Museum is proud to partner with Mr. Larmer's Grade 6/7 class to display their 2020 Remembrance Day projects. Click here to see virtual posters featuring biographies of World War I veterans and go to Town Hall to view the Honour Roll created by the class. Good job, everyone!

While observing Remembrance Day from home this year, it is a good opportunity to reflect on military sacrifice in Canadian history. Our gift shop has books for children and adults looking to learn more during this time of remembrance.

You can browse our book inventory online or book an appointment to visit the museum and browse in-person! Don't forget, museum members receive a 20% discount on most gift shop items.
The Collingwood Museum is creating take-home craft kits inspired by one of our most popular children's programs! The kits will be available for the upcoming November 20 PA Day and will add history and creativity to your movie night.

Kits must be pre-ordered and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Check the museum's website for details.
Did you miss our Victorian Halloween special on Facebook Live? Don't worry! It's still available on our Facebook page. Click here to explore some of the Museum's more 𝖚𝖓𝖘𝖊𝖙𝖙𝖑𝖎𝖓𝖌 collections - a human hair wreath (yes it's true!), bone saw, trephine (early skull drill), and a bloodletting bowl and fleam. The Victorian era had it all and now so do you!
