Thank you for the opportunity.

First Presidential Votes Cast on Smartphone App.

For the first time ever, mobile voting backed by a blockchain-based infrastructure was available in a U.S. presidential election.

The 2020 presidential election was a milestone for many reasons, one of the most significant of which was the high voter turnout - a reflection of the appetite and re-commitment of American citizens to the democratic process. Regardless of political affiliation and belief, Americans voted in record numbers. This was due in large part to efforts across the country to improve and provide access to voters otherwise disenfranchised or unable to participate.

We at Voatz were proud to be part of this movement. Voters with disabilities, deployed military and citizens abroad were able to participate in this historic moment and cast ballots on their smartphones. Mobile voting was available in three counties in two states - Utah County and Daggett County in Utah, and Jackson County, Oregon. People used it conveniently and securely to mark their ballots remotely, with each marked oval recorded on a distributed ledger and paper ballots printed at the jurisdiction for seamless tabulation. Voatz was rolled out across geographies smoothly and without incident, empowering those who might not otherwise have had an opportunity to cast a ballot and allowed them, in real time, to get assurance that their ballot was received and counted.

Improving access and extending mobile voting from regional elections to a presidential election marks a crucial turning point in America’s ability to provide an additional, secure way to exercise the democratic right to vote. In short, this election was a step forward in enacting systemic change, and ensuring a seat at the table for all Americans.

We are grateful to all of those that played a part in this election and making access and mobile voting a reality. We thank forward-looking election officials determined to expand options for disenfranchised populations. We thank voters who exercised their right using this mobile voting option. We thank advocates who continue to fight for voter access and against voter suppression.

And we thank you for your continued support of this important mission.
