Entangled:
Documentary Screening and Conversation
RSVP Today!

On Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 4:00pm EST, Pulitzer Center grantee David Abel will discuss his documentary, Entangled, and the issues surrounding the decline of the North Atlantic right whale population with a panel of policymakers and scientists.

Panelists will include Peter Baker, director of Northern Oceans Conservation at The Pew Charitable Trusts; Dr. Moira Brown, senior scientist with the Canadian Whale Institute/Campobello Whale Rescue Team; and Rep. Seth Moulton, who represents Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District. Pulitzer Center Senior Strategist Steve Sapienza will moderate the conversation.

The panel will be presented as part of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital (DCEFF)’s Fall Showcase, in partnership with the Pulitzer Center. Registration includes a viewing window for Entangled, beginning at 12:00pm EST on November 14.

Entangled, part of a larger Connected Coastlines reporting project, examines the controversy around efforts to save North Atlantic right whales from extinction. Fewer than 400 remain, making the whales among the planet’s most endangered species. Scientists say the main threat to their survival lurks under the water: millions of lobster lines, standard gear for North America’s most valuable fishery.

This year’s DCEFF Fall Showcase will run November 12-18. All screenings and discussions will be held virtually. Admittance to the screening of Entangled and the panel discussion is free of charge. Register for the events here.

In addition, DCEFF is offering 25 percent off other Fall Showcase screenings and passes. Passes can be purchased here, and use the promo code PCFALLEFF.
