From the BOH Board

Hello fellow BOH supporters,

In this Thanksgiving season we wanted to take this time to thank all the churches, businesses and individuals who have supported this ministry again over the past year. When COVID 19 hit and the lockdown happened the residents of BOH could not work, therefore some had struggled to pay the rent. We gave then grace and put what they owed on a payment plan for when they could return to work. We could never have done this without the financial support of a loving and faithful community. All the men are now working full time again which we are so thankful, a huge thank you to the local business who have given these men a job and a chance to succeed. Currently we have 2 beds ready and available for new residents.

Testimonial from a Current Resident

Hello my name is Nicholas Roder, or just Nick. I am a very fortunate resident at The Bridges of Hope House in Lynden, Washington. It could be said that my journey here has been a long time in the making. Even as there has been a great number of wonderful times and events in my life, there has also been quite a number of unpleasant ones as well. It seems every decade had another incident or two occur that one certainly wouldn't wish for. Generally speaking, these incidences came as a result from either an addiction, improper behaviors or a lack of foresight and in some cases all three, which invariably resulted in a halt to progression in mainstream life. The 2010s were no exception. In February of this year, it came time to atone for an incident that I created in 2018. There were several options to choose from. Some much easier than on others, although only one, if applied in earnest, offered significant change. This choice being going to a treatment facility, followed by an intense outpatient program with an accountability system in place for the duration of 2 years. In reality choosing this route was a "No Brainer" but then as fate would have it, I became aligned with Bridges of Hope which really has been nothing short of a "Godsend" if I may use that term. While at the treatment center you gather and with a clear mind hopefully absorb a lot of useful information. It helped me understand "why this & why that" had happened to me in the past. More importantly though it gave me new knowledge and thus "tools" to help guide me in future endeavors. You've heard the term "he is a product of his environment". True in more cases than not. In treatment, you learn that your environment is usually the key element in a successful recovery program. So being accepted at Bridges of Hope gave me great deal of relief and was a huge confidence builder and moving forward. Nearing the completion in facility treatment I was eagerly awaiting the challenges ahead. Once out the door and on the trip back home, I must admit there was some anxiety building as some clean and sober houses are strife with politics and "Drug Use". Thankfully those fears were soon dispelled as I found all you could wish for in roommates, the house itself and the way it operates. The board members have been fantastic and could not be more helpful and positive towards one's endeavors. I am eternally grateful to all those who make Bridges of Hope possible and the great operation that it is for individuals such as myself. From deep inside I think you so very, very, much!

Sincerely,

Nick Roder
