Happy Holidays!

We hope you enjoy the holiday season. We are reflecting on the entire year which began with the commissioning of the Moulton Ranch Center mural, a Moulton roundup in Maxwell, CA and the Nellie Gail Moulton exhibit closing in San Clemente, CA. Thank you all for your ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you at our events in 2021!
The Moulton Family - portrait photo with Louise, Nellie Gail, Charlotte and Lewis. The family is sitting for a formal portrait around 1920. Louise was approximately six years old and Charlotte ten years old. (2017.05.273)
In 1931, Lewis' neighbors wrote this poem to him in gratitude. (2017.05.371)
This back of the poem backside was signed by the neighbors who came together to give the card at Christmas time. Some of the names that appear are William Wendt and Frank Cuprien, Laguna Beach artists that painted with Nellie. J.N. "Nick" and Katherine Isch built a general store opposite the Hotel Laguna. Do you recognize any other signatures here and have any stories to share with us? Make sure to email us at archive@moultonmuseum.org so we can learn your personal connections to the Moulton Ranch.

Thank you for having attended the Nellie Gail Moulton exhibit. We enjoyed a wonderful reception at Casa Romantica on November 13, 2020. We had 884 people visit in person and more than 2000 views the online exhibit. Please continue to learn about the history of Nellie Gail Moulton on our website with our online exhibit. We look forward to sharing her collection with you all at future exhibitions.
CONSERVATION
Cliffside House, Malibu, c. 1945
Oil on artist's board Collection of Shelli Andreski and Courtesy of the Gail Family Collection.
The Nellie Gail Moulton fine art collection was conserved in 2018 to 2020. Each painting and sketch has been carefully conserved for long-term preservation. This treatment extends the lifespan of each piece for future generations to enjoy. We recommend that you consider this long-term treatment plan for your own family's heirlooms.

The Moulton Museum works with a consortium of archivists, appraisers, conservators, curators, and photographers who have worked to preserve the fine art collection. Our best practices for your own pieces include a routine cleaning, digital imaging, and giclée reproduction. Rather than hanging your original painting on a mantel that is exposed to extreme heat, consider framing a giclée. You will be able to retain the household tradition while limiting the original to environmental fluctuations.
Purchase your own giclée at our Museum Store.
