Dear <<First Name>>,

Proactive and precise Condition Scoring is critical to achieving reproductive efficiency in Merino and maternal flocks. Given the national flock is at a 100 year low, we have to produce more from less. By wet-dry scanning or not scanning at all, we are treating our ewes with contempt. He will talk on factors influencing the optimum mob size of ewes at lambing and the economic benefit of lambing ewes. Ewes need birthing privacy to better bond with lambs and increase survival rates. The sheep supply chain is a balancing act. We know that the ambition to achieve a consistently profitable sheep business across the supply chain is a complex matter.

Jason has trialled Fit Bits for Sheep: As the owner of one of the trial farms, the new sensor technology has enabled farmers to identify quickly which lamb belongs to which ewe (maternal pedigree). With these sensors, maternal pedigree can be established very quickly in extensive Australian merino stud farms. He will also discuss strategies for rebuilding flocks during recovery from droughts / fires. Whole of flock productivity.
