These newsletters are brought out to keep you informed on the latest developments of COGNIPLANT project, including interviews, upcoming events, project progress and achievements, information on the project partners and other related news. This issue is coming out at the end of the first year of the project one; it gives you an overview of the status of COGNIPLANT and of the actions undertaken by COGNIPLANT partners. The newsletter will be published two times per year.
The COGNIPLANT team continues working, with more strength than ever, to achieve all its goals successfully, despite of the pandemic and of the "new normal". Respecting all the measures taken in the affected countries, from our homes and with limited access to our facilities, we have implemented all the necessary means and adapted quickly to the situation, in order to continue with our activities as planned. Early in November, it was held the 12M meeting, where the strategy for the project's progress in the coming months was defined. All the planned physical interactions are still readapted to take place in virtual format and the partners are now used to work in a coordinated way in the distance.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 869931.

Stay tuned!

The European Process Industry represents the economic roots of the European economy, bringing economic and social value by transforming raw materials into intermediate and end-user products. Our society needs them to address the current challenges in housing, transport, energy etc.
Having a high dependence on resources (energy, raw materials and water) and striving for long-term sustainability, the Process Industry has a clear and urgent need to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
The COGNIPLANT consortium, together with INEVITABLE, HyperCOG and COGNITWIN projects, is proud to hold a workshop on the 16th of December (9.00-11.30 AM CEST), to discuss general aims of the SPIRE call and common strategies among the projects. These projects aim to develop new technologies to implement cognitive production plants, with improved efficiency and sustainability, exploiting smart and networked sensor technologies, intelligent handling and online evaluation of various forms of data streams as well as new methods for self-organizing processes and process chains. Each project will be presented and the session will be concluded with a round table.
The webinar will provide the audience with a unique view of the latest developments in this field as well as introduce them to the people developing this vital technology. It’s a must-see event.
This collaboration also provides a double benefit by allowing projects to fine tune their strategies and improve their competitiveness. As such, our goal is to hold this kind of session every year, involving more and more projects.

We are glad to announce that on the 26th of November Stefano Ellero, Manager of the Industrial Automation & Robotics Area at STAM S.r.l., presented the COGNIPLANT project at the Digital Energy Data Management on-line event organized by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
The event focused on the latest research in advanced digitalisation, identify opportunities for large industry to engage with intelligent energy management and showcase software solutions for digitising energy management within facilities.
The event provided insights, case studies and possible solutions to further enhance energy efficiency through the application of intelligence. It also explored the challenges associated with siloed energy data and system integration. The content and structure of the event provided insight into live Horizon 2020 advanced technology projects, market leading expertise from energy data management suppliers and the Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) agency.
In addition, this event offered participants the opportunity to shape SEAI’s provision of energy data management supports and the potential for a special working group was discussed during the event.
