Phoenix Modern November News

Greetings Phoenix Modern Families,

It's hard to believe that November is here. It's a beautiful time of the year to live in Phoenix and spend time outdoors in nature. It's a grounding experience in all of the uncertainty that exists right now.

As COVID-19 numbers fluctuate and more learners begin coming to campus, we will be sending out a twice-monthly survey to gauge our community's collective levels of comfort with remaining in a hybrid model. This information will help us further adapt our programming for the remainder of the calendar year to best meet everyone's safety needs.

With the changing rates of positive COVID-19 cases in Maricopa County, we want to ensure that we continue to serve our families' needs and our commitment to keep our entire school community safe. Please take the time to take this survey and share your current safety comfort -level with remaining in a Hybrid Model by Monday, November 9.

No School on Veteran's Day

We will not have school on Wednesday, November 11. We have several Phoenix Modern families with active and veteran members of the military. Thank you for your service.

Caregiver Learning Series #3

Our third Virtual Caregiver Learning Series is on Thursday, November 12 at 5:00 PM. The topic of this session will be Diving Into Phoenix Modern's Whole-Child Framework. This session is for those of you who are interested in learning more about our whole-child framework and the research that went into its development. The session will be hosted by Program Director, Jessica Taylor.

Wonder Box Pick Up

November Wonder Box pick up days are November 6 and November 20 from 8:30-10:30am and 3:30-5:30pm. Guides will contact you through SeeSaw if this changes for your Studio.

Exhibitions of Learning

During the month of November, Studios will host Exhibitions of Learning, where learners can share and demonstrate what they have learned throughout the Session. Please refer to each Studio's SeeSaw page for specifics.

A window into the our next Quest.

Our next quest is grounded in the collective question, "What stories live in Arizona?" Through an initial inquiry into the land around us, we will unpack the story of this land we call Arizona. By weaving together the stories of this land, from ancient times until today, learners will develop an appreciation for the complex history of this land. We will help learners deepen an understanding of their own identity and the identities of their peers by exploring where their family’s stories fit in the timeline of the history of this land now known as Arizona.

The questions we will ask include:

What do we notice about the land now known as Arizona?
What stories live in this land?
Who lived here before? Where are they now?
How did this land come to be called Arizona?
What does it mean to be a state in the United States?
Who is in Arizona? How did they get here?
What is my family’s Arizona story?
