#DYK (Did you know)

JPCC is proud to be taking on the lead for Moonlight Madness 2020 edition! Two important things YOU NEED to KNOW.....
  1. JPCC is leveraging social media outlets to market the event to the region (Hinton/Edson) Note: JPCC is not not organizing a 'shopping bus' to bring shoppers into the community; retailers will need to be concentrating on meeting the needs of local shoppers all the while adhering to Covid-19 health and safety protocols. Regional shoppers will likely come to Jasper, but will do so on their own.
  2. Any business wishing to participate in Moonlight Madness is invited to contact Ashley Chorley at a.chorley@jpcc.ca or 780-852-4621. In order to be included in social media marketing including the Jasper Moonlight Madness website, merchants MUST register with Ashley no later than noon on November 12th.  Ashley will require a good quality image of your logo and please advise of any special deals you would like to feature on the website. In all, be prepared to be 'everywhere' particularly throughout the week of November 16th!  Did we mention this year's MM marketing is of no cost to you nor are you required to be a Chamber member at this time (but food for thought...)
  3. Okay, so maybe there are 3 things........Santas Anonymous 2020 is kicking off right away and you can choose to be a part of it in 2 ways - consider a drop box at your location and go a step further by having much needed items featured during your Moonlight Madness event - shoppers can purchase and drop items into the box ON THE SPOT!  The overarching theme for this year's SA compaign? Love Local!  Got a nice ring to it eh?
Advocacy focus for the coming few weeks? Glad you asked!  It's all about working with the business community to gather information, anecdotals and suggestions toward urging MoJ Council to approve a 2nd year of extended patio seating. If you haven't been contacted yet and your business (regardless of type, size, shape etc) you will be called in the coming few days. Thank you in advance for answering our questions and contributing to this most important report scheduled to be presented to the Municipality of Jasper Council on November 17th. Watch this space for updates!  AND.....not a business owner yourself or want to comment as a resident? Please do so by reaching out to us at the JPCC office - your feedback is encouraged and most welcome!  Executive Director, Pattie Pavlov, can be reached at 780-852-4621 or ppavlov@jpcc.ca

ICYMI (In case you missed it):

Planned Icefields Parkway Closure: Highway Avalanche Control
  • Significant snowfall accompanied by strong winds, blowing and drifting snow is forecasted along the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) south of Jasper beginning on Tuesday evening. Parks Canada would like to advise motorists to be prepared for the possibility of an extended closure of the highway. Some weather forecast models are predicting between 30 and 100 centimetres of snow over a 48-hour period. As a result, beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Parks Canada intends to close the Icefields Parkway to motorists, from Athabasca Falls to Saskatchewan River Crossing. Visitors will still be able to have access to the day-use area at Athabasca Falls. This will allow avalanche control work to safely take place on Thursday and Friday, for a reopening of the highway on Friday evening.
  • Maligne Lake Road is also being closely monitored for a possible extended closure.
  • Please monitor Jasper National Park’s Facebook and Twitter feeds for more information as the storm progresses. Your safety is our priority - Plan your trip and check https://511.alberta.ca for up-to-date road conditions and status.

Business owners across rural Alberta require strong exit planning support.

If you want to offer more support to your small business clients when it comes to big decisions, building your succession planning expertise will ensure you can meet their needs. Over the lunch-hour on November 6th, Commercial Ventures will lead a discussion and provide information on the role of advisors to support business clients in the exit planning process. This webinar will also introduce a new strategy to provide ongoing support to  increase the number of businesses to connect with, more exit options, and ongoing opportunities for training and strategy development.

If your small business clients are considering retirement or selling their business in the next 6 months to 3 years, this session will explain how you can support these clients at their next big milestone.  Click HERE for Event Information and Registration.
